De La Hoya Continues To Ponder His Retirement

Two weeks ago, Oscar De La Hoya said a decision would soon come down on the status of his career. To date he is still pondering whether or not to return to the ring. After the nine rounds of punishment that De La Hoya's suffered at the hands of Manny Pacquiao last December, even his wife and close friend Richard Schaefer were calling for his retirement. [details]

DLH, there aren't that many fans out there that want to see u in the ring again. Most have been ready to see you retire for some time now. Just accept that u'r career is done, be happy with what u did and get on with it. IF NOT, you WILL lose your gorgeous wife and kids and will end up getting hurt more so

Man, I must admit that I hate reading user comments on boxingscene and hardly ever do so. However, I did read the ones here and I must say.....Oscar should do what he feels is right. If he decides to give it up, great. If he decides to give it one more shot and see what he has left, cool. He's been doing this for decades and I really doubt he'd get hurt if he gave it one more go. No fighter wants to end their career with a loss like that and I personally don't think he's as far gone as the loss to Pacquiao made him look. But people.....let's let Oscar make that choice for himself!

DLH should have retired after the Mayweather rematch fell through. He did what he needed to do in boxing and he now has a fantastic career in boxing, just not in the ring.

Nothing new here. Barrera and Morales claim to have grown old overnight after Pacman beats them up. Even JMM fans think had it been a "prime JMM" against Manny in their 1st fight it would have been different. Oscar is just following the same trend / excuse.

he's gonna get his ass handed to him if he fights again at the elite level... money is tempting but even richie rich knows if you take another beating, it's going to scar the image of everything "golden boy"
