why are some here expecting the fight to go before 5,3 rounds when they haven't even seen jennings fight??? I don't care, nor will I judge Cotto's performance based on when/if he stops jennings. for me that sounds naive. I will look at the way he presents himself into the fight. I'm actually hoping to have a jennings that can take a punch and manages to give cotto a good fight to see where he is standing but to base his performance purely on when he stops jennings is out of my understanding.

BTW last time he stopped someone before the 5 was back in '04...

All this mentallity stuff is rubbish. If Jennings hangs in there tough, then he's tough. Urkal didnt go away easily and Cotto beat the hell out of him.

He broke Judah down and stopped him in 11.
judah went 12 with floyd the #1 p4p fighter. judah >>>>>> jennings.

Broke Branco down and stopped him in 8.
that was at 140 where cotto had to save up stamina

I see this like the Branco fight, I think Cotto will stop him between rounds 7-9. He could end it in 5, but to say that he SHOULD win in 5 doesn't make much sense to me.
ok, I'm will to spot cotto a few rounds...

KO under 5-7 = same old cotto
KO under 12 = slightly damaged cotto
12 decision = psychologically damaged cotto

Cotto also didn't fight like "take no prisoners" against Mosley, Margarito, or even Gomez he was happy to use his boxing skills against them guys like he did early in his career. That come forward brawler stuff was more after he destroyed Kelson Pinto and fell in love with his power.
no way.... against mosley and marg cotto was all business. he tried to hurt them early and hurt them hard.

cotto toyed with gomez because he knew it was a mismatch and carried him.

I think Jennings will make it to Round 5. But I do expect some kind of stoppage. If Jennings doesn't exchange with Cotto and dances for the first 3-4 rounds I think he could make it to around round 8 or 9. He won't be able to run all night tho...

its obvious that jennings was chosen because he is the weakest of any 147 lbs titlist. everyone understands that this is a soft touch. if this was a fight against clottey or even collazo I'd be more understanding, but this is arums fault for setting expectations so high.

sorry to say, but cotto must meet those expectations.

i will not judge cotto by if he knocks out Jennings or not. I will judge him by his performance overall. If he looks sharp or not.

if cotto is sharp and on point the fight should not last past the 5th - 7th rounds.

Cotto KO's him in 6 but yea he does look bad if he doesnt KO Jennings considering Jennings is slow and has never fought anyone with a pulse!
