That fight was 11 years ago. Wlad was 21 years old, only weighed 225 lbs and he had never gone past 7 rounds. He beat the **** out of Purrity for 10 rounds until he ran out of gas and collapsed from complete exhaustion...he never went down from a punch, it was fatigue.
Vitali destroyed Purrity
hahahaha your favourite fighter got knocked out by a journeyman and he wasnt shot at the time!! so no excuses haha!
"I had 6 days notice. What else could I do? All of the Boxing experts said that he just got tired. Bottom line is I took his, but he couldn't take mine! He tried to knock someone out who wouldn't comply with his request.
"He was very elusive, but I knew that he couldn't keep it up the whole fight. The man can punch, but I don't go down easily."
He won Klitschko's WBC International Heavyweight title but was stripped shortly after. Here is what he said about that.
"Who in Boxing can do it on there own? I thought that I was doing well, until the WBC stripped me for no reason! I guess you gotta be somebody to get somewhere in the Business, I mean sport of Boxing?"
I asked him how he summed up his boxing career:
"How about the Guy who beat two Olympic gold medalists? Klitschko and Jorge Gonzales!"
Purrity is crazy , but I'd say the same thing about the situation to make myself look better. He was getting his ass kicked up and down till Wlad simply lost all his energy.
The boxing world owes a debt of gratitude to Ross Purritty. He's the quintessential journeyman/gatekeeper who always gave it his all, and as far as I know, never laid down in a fight. Match makers pitted their fighters against Ross, and if you beat him, it looked good on your record. Take a look at his record and you'll see he's been in with alot of good comp:http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php...5622&cat=boxer

Klitschko should have fired his manager for allowing the Purritty fight to be a 12 rounder. How he showed up the Purritty fight 7 pounds lighter than he was when he fought 3 weeks earlier is beyond me. Looking back it seems obvious he was overtrained and his management didn't take 5 minutes to figure out that Ross The Boss does not get knocked out.
