Alexander Povetkin (16-0, 12 KOs), mandatory challenger of IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, will take a final warm-up fight on April 4 when he faces Jason Estrada (15-1, 3 KOs) in Dusseldorf. The 29-year-old was scheduled to fight Klitschko in December 2008 but an ankle injury forced him to postpone the hotly anticipated showdown. The IBF ruled that their meeting has to take place before September 13, 2009. “This time frame allows us to give Alexander a tough fight so that he can keep his rhythm,” Sauerland Event general manager Chris Meyer said. “By picking Jason Estrada we have chosen a strong opponent. But that is exactly what Alexander had asked us to do because easy fights do not help him at all.” [details]

The end result will depend on Jason Estrada. Unlike Povetkin he is not consistent. On his good days Estrada is very good and an upset is not out of the question. Good only knows what mood he will be in April 4. I have a su****ion that the fight will be similar to Eddie Chambers. Estrada will win the early rounds then buckle under Povetkin's relentless pressure. -
povetkin should take out estrada very easily either by knockout or decision.it all depends on estadas conditioning.if he's in shape it might be an ok fight.good tuneup for a title shotComment

Both being 2004 Olympians make this a good match but while estrada has wins over goofy whitaker & decent c level opponents,he lost to travis walker & povetkin has wins over chambers & chris Byrd & other notable journeyman.poverkins a gold medalist with a extensive amateur background.povtkin is putting alot at risk here(#1ibf ranking)but that is awesome that he won't take the easy route to his title match sept13.the signs of a guy who just maybe the next champ.the only ? I have is how well does he take apunch from a big hw? Chambers & Byrd are not klitschko & peter, etc.time will tell.Comment

Jason is my cousin and i agree hes gotta come in ready to fight..but this isnt a fight that he cant win. its a good fight for his career and if he looks good even in a loss it will open up other doors for him. he has the speed to make anyone look ******. people make a complaint of jays shape but hes gotta pack on some pounds to hang with these boys that weigh 260 270. he got me into boxing, i remember being like 5 and going with my uncles to watch jays amatuer fights and ever since then i been a die hard fan, i wish jay nothing but good luck and hope he comes out with a win even if it is a tough taskComment

Estrada seems to have a decent chin but only 3 knockouts so it seems unlikely he will test povetkins beard.it's hard for me to give estrada much of a chance but you never know in this division.HW boxing in my eyes is getting interesting again.several good meaning fights coming in the next few months.Comment

I agree with you he has great handspeed & a fit 230 at most or he may lose some speed & since he doesn't seem to be a big puncher(that's easy for me to say,I'm not getting hit by him)that may work against him.you are right as long as he works hard & leaves it all in the ring win or lose this opens up alot of doors.obviously a win is what you want but a good showing gets him some nice paydays.I wish him all the best & hope he has a long, healthy, productive career.you must be proud to have an olypian boxer as a family member.good luck to himComment

I would much rather seen him take on Arreola, who is looking for a fight in April. Then we know who is the most ready to take on Klitschko. Tired of stay busy heavyweight fights and negotiations falling through and injuries.Comment
