there is no benefit whatsoever in de la hoya quitting and getting a one sided beat down. Not good for his reputaition or bank account. So you think he lost on purpose in order for pacquiao to look really good? Wow. I guess bob arum should thank him for being so nice. There were a lot of ways he coulda made PAC look good other than a one sided beating and quitting. He is a proud Mexican. He can forget that now, last I heard mexican hated quitters. Use your head.

True...I guess that's why they never liked Oscar (see Trinidad and Hopkins endings)

Yeah but you don't just quit unless you think your health is in jeopardy. It woulda made both look better if he woulda just got knocked out. He wouldn't be a quitter and PAC woulda looked more menacing. If there was a text book for throwing a fight for your own benifit, this is the plain opposite.

Actually, if there was a textbook...this is perfect. We saw how bad it looks the other way (Hopkins-DLH)

how is it perfect. The only beneficiary of this is PAC, top rank and all those associated with Pac. Dlh loses everything, including harming his legacy. PAC vs. Hatton, dlh makes liitle money compared to dlh vs. Hatton where dlh makes money on all fronts as the fighter and sole promotor. If PAC fought someone else that wasn't gb, dlh makes no money. So how is being the victim of a one sided beatdown and quitting gonna benifit dlh at all. It damages his legacy, his reputation, and hurts his pockets. Use your heads

Who in their right mind would do that? Only transvestites and crossdressing boxers would do that.

DLH loses nothing. Just got a big paycheck and will get another big paycheck. Plus, in spite of what you think, if DLH beat down Pac what would he have gained? NOTHING. Because everyone was calling this a farce anyway. He would've just have beaten down a lightweight and looked like a jerk. I'm not saying he did. But based on past history, I wouldnt be surprised.

Unbelievable thread! I cannot think of one single, logical reason why Oscar would throw this fight. Not one. Didn't he also get a cracked facial bone? That's what I heard anyway. If you're gonna arrange to throw a fight, you don't take an absolute beating in the process.
