Baldomir is not a great fighter, but he is not terrible either. He won like 20 some fights in a row (although the Clottey win is something I do not put much stock in, he was young and got DQed). He was on a good run and he does have positive attributes, but that said Floyd was all wrong for him and I am sure Floyd knew that.
