I think he certainly has the skill set. However, there is not alot of bigtime competition for him to face right now at 175. Maybe taylor moves up to fight him, maybe the road warrior gets his rematch, maybe a diancou fight. just not alot out there currently.

Winky Wright also did a tour of Europe and Cunningham did the same. Many people forget that Lacy went over to Calzaghe's backyard to fight him, but that was the right thing to do.

EDIT: I thought the Lacy vs Joe fight was in Wales but it was in England.

Some of the SMW's like Kessler will proberbly move up before 5 years time I expect him to be between atleast 4-7 in 5 years time atleast.
Kessler wouldn't even fight Miranda coming up from middleweight. He definitely isn't fighting Chad Dawson a LHW. If Kessler takes some more reasonable fights I'll believe it.

Not sure there are the fights there to carry him into the top 5.

Maybe if he can catch Hopkins before he retires, but thats one of those deals where if you beat him then he was "old" and if he beats you "you got beat by an old guy".
Still this would be the shortest cut.

Other than that he has to wait for other fighters to develop into bigger names to boost him up the list like Diaconu, Shumenov, or Cloud.

Or he can hope some big names from 168 move up to 175 like Kessler, Bute, Taylor, or Froch.

The only other way is to use the Calzaghe/Calderon method and just sit there and remain undefeated and try and move up as those above you lose or retire, but look how long it took those 2 clowns to make it up into the top 5 using that method (I mean hell, Calzaghe actually had to abandon that route and fight some guys).

            Exactly.

            Kessler has baby balls.

They jock-ride him to make Average Joe look better.

I think if Dawson was a little more outgoing/slightly more charismatic he'd be higher on the list already. I think he will be between 3-7. Certain names will be dropping out by 2 years time. I don't expect B-hop to still be heavily in the mix at that point. Izzy or Raf may very well be on the way out too by then. Specifically Izzy with his eye and the fact that he looks to be taking a couple battles and out.

He will be anything from 7-10. Theres not enough Competition at LHW, to propel him higher than that.

Who is he going to beat to get in?

There is nobody in the top 40 P4P in LHW for him to fight and beat to get into the top ten.

You get into the top ten by beating top ten and frankly he has no chance of doing that, not because he's not capable but because he has nobody to fight.

Prolly in the 4-7 range, but he might get ko'd by a vengeful Tarver if he overlooks grandpa T (his wife is smoking)

Lack of comp to gain the respect of the writers. Weak division, and those euro cats don't seem to be willing to take the risk and move up and out of their parents backyard to challenge the champ!
