Most of his fights are either boring, blowouts, getting blown out by superior fighters, or romps against old men.

Sergi Leyhovic would be a prime example. After the 5th round he was throwing somthing like 20 punches a round and he would have to wait till the last min of every round before he would blow his load with a couple of right hands.

Shannon Briggs is the Chris Webber of heavyweights. A ton of talent, but was a star too early for his own good. Briggs had the power, speed, amatauer pedigree, and likeable personality to be everything in the sport. His career though like Webber's lacked the definitive domination that one thought it would/could be. Unlike Webber and the Klitschkos as well, Briggs in reality won the lineal title with his dubious victory over George Foreman. And until he knocked Liakhovich out with 1 sec remaining in the 12th rd, he was the only linear champion to not hold a alphabet belt in his career (once the sanctioning bodies became established). But Briggs' supposed lineal title reign also brought an end to the lineage of the title. yes he lost to Lewis in his next fight and Lewis could've been named the linear champion from there, but we all know it was the seconhd bout the Holyfield that gave Lennos that distinction. Shannon has always been likeable and entertaining with his words, and at times was entertaining with his fist, it was his lack of dedication to the sport that cost him everything, and his greater dedication to being a star that robbed us of a really good fighter. Shannon didn't even train a day for the Ibragimov fight, that was actually pretty sad. He was always my favorite fighter because he was the main event of my first ever live show. But as I grew older and wiser I lost faith in him, too bad to. But it's cool, he is probably the most approachable fighter i've met and we've become acquaintances over the years. He is still supposed to be fighting for King and Don has called on him a couple of times to get ready to fight again, but King sits on his fighters until the contracts run out and I don't think Shannon has a problem with that.

His fight with Lewis was entertaining. He had Lennox in a lot of trouble early in the fight before getting bombed out.

He was much better before he added all that mass. I met him in Tiverton RI after his 5th or 6th fight, very personable and you could see then the talent he had. To bad he never really fulfilled his potenial.

I am not saying they were good fights, but they were usually exciting in some way, a la end by knockout. He was not the best fighter, but there was definitly an excitement factor.

i never did like him but at least he always used the same excuse (asthma)
if he won he would say it was finally under control but for his loses it always came back.
