2009 is gonna be pivotal for Guzman...it'll be make or break

he's at that point (age and career) where he needs to get back to the spotlight...he still has 'some' name and he needs to put on some good fights

its funny because i boxrec'd him a couple of weeks ago and saw that he fought in december....that **** just flew under my radar and im afraid that if he doesnt change it up, the rest of his career will be filled by those not-so-memorable, irrelevant bouts

everybody has a chance against anybody on the right night.

the reason i said guzman needs to try and get katsidis or casamayor was because guzman needs names on his resume to get some credibility back. if anything guzman should beat both these guys because katsidis is flawed and casamayor is old. also both will be on the high profile lightweight tournament bout. guzman needs high profile bouts.

if guzman can graduate from those fights, he can target diaz, jmm and valero. Not to say that valero is on par with jmm, but because so many believe that valero is a pac clone, he should save that for last as a tune up for pac. the diaz/jmm winner would be the real prize at 135 since that dude would be recognized as the MAN at 135, but guzman can fight the loser as a tune up for the winner.

if guzman has real guts, he will fight funeka. styles makes fight and funeka destroyed slick boxer raheem. I dont know if guzman wants any of that.

But thats not the point, the thread starter claimed when he is he Joan gonna fight some legit fighters, and in my post i say he already fought legit fighters in Soto and Barriors, and statements like that should be left for fighters like Tye Fields.

So even do it probaly is not enough, he has foughts legit fighters.

I doubt it....he has fought 1 time in 2007 and 1 time in 2008 (all his nuthuggers bring up two guys Barrios and Soto) like thier great or something...their stepping stones or hyped journey men. His last 5 opponents have 28 losses....of course he looks great...lol Do you realize that this guys fights on average 2 fights a year and recently one fight a year....Other guys that do this...sure, Oscar De La hoya, Hopkins, Trinidad , Roy Jones and we all know he is no where near them in finances, Popularity or anything. So we say its because no one wants to fight him...lets look at this theory...other guys that were known to be "feared". Margarito, P. Willaims, Winky Wright, and even Mike Tyson...but guess what? they have all fought more known fighters, and competition and doubled the amount of fights Guzman has in a year. Lets say its because the Campbell thing...nope he was doing this well before the Campbell thing. Simply put he want to keep his Iconic status among his people because where he is from they have no great fighters, so he is hugging that 0 for dear life. "Respect is earned in Boxing"..He beats someone and fights more often he will get that until then he is nobody. Their are guys working hard and climbing the charts, Berto, Cintron,Angula, Gamboa,Alverado, Kirland...these guys are trying to win and taking on fights 3-4 times a yr...making a name.

You missed absolutely nothing..A boring fight where he ran most of the fight showboated and made a bunch of complaints about his opponent..He ****** and everyone said it was ring rust...but if you fight one time 1 2007 and 1 time in 2008 its your own fault...a good year for him is 2 fights a year which is ridiculous for a guy "making a name".

There is no one that Camacho ever beat the level of Humberto Soto, Jorge Barrios, or Agapito Sanchez. Whats more is Camacho doesn't have half the talent Guzman has and has proven it by losing to guys like Tsurkan and Weis, and bitching his way out of a loss to Leija.

Admittedly Guzman hasnt maximized his talent, but thats nothing new with fighters today.

Funeka would smash Guzman. The only way to deal with someone like Funeka is with power, and Guzman cant crack an egg.
