I think most people who watch this fight nowadays really expect JLC to win the fight, and look for reasons to give him the fight. If you judge a fight with preconcieved ideas about a fight your score will never be accurate or valid.Comment

I believe JLC had a punchstat advantage though to answer your question, though that was mostly done over the final 6 rounds.Comment

being at both fights, both times having excellent seats, and rooting for floyd AT THE TIME (before his marketing himself got out of hand), i had castillo wining both fights. the pressure, work rate, and constant body attack, really stood out form floyds laying on the ropes and part time pot shots. floyd was really looking tired during the first fight and although has never tired since their first fight, floyd in my eyes and in the opinions of the people sitting with me and around us, everyone thought castillo won.......... it was the same thing in the rematch..................
both fights can be argued each way, but from a normal fight criteria stand point of what stands out in academics of scoring a fight, castillo did what you'd normally score a fight.................
but....................that wasn't the case was it.Comment

I still feel that Castillo gave away way to many early rounds to get a decision, especially when you consider the subjective nature of judging fights, also people never bring up the points that got deducted so depending on how those rounds got scored it could make a huge difference in the score cards (if they ended up 10-8 9-9 for Floyd that would be way to much for JLC to overcome).
It was a close fight though, just not enough rounds for JLC to pull it out with how he fared in the first 6 rounds (without a knock down).Last edited by The Gambler1981; 02-16-2009, 04:01 PM.Comment
