Nate Campbell vs Ali Funeka My Scorecard.

    1 Campbell
    2 Campbell 10-8
    3 Campbell
    4 Funeka
    5 Funeka
    6 Funeka
    7 Fuenka
    8 Funeka
    9 Funeka
    10 Funeka
    11 Campbell 10-8
    12 Campbell

    113-113 Draw

I thought the rounds were pretty easy to score, the first 3 rounds were clearly Nate Campbell's he walked forward. Bullied Ali Funeka against the ropes, and landed the harder punches hurting Ali Funeka several times plus scoring a very heavy knockdown.

Then after the 3rd round im not sure if Ali Funeka just adjusted, or the weight effected Nate Campbell, but whatever the reason Nate Campbell's workrate seriously dropped.

And Ali Funeka used good movement kept his arm pumping, and used his jab to good effect. He wasn't landing alot of clean punches but IMO, he still badly outworked Nate Campbell and controlled the fight tactically. And his ring generalship was much better, and i thought Ali Funeka pretty much controlled the next 7 rounds quite comfortably.

Then in the last 2 rounds Nate Campbell dug deep, scored the knockdown in the 11th round, then beat up Ali Funeka with body shots in the last round. And clearly outworked Ali Funeka in that round, i don't think Ali Funeka recovered from the knockdown in the 11th round, and it seemed he wanted to just survive the last round.

Overall pretty dramatic fight it wasn't nowhere close to a robbery, like some people have claimed. But i do think Ali Funeka deserves a rematch, i was quite impressed with his boxing skills. But his chin is suspect.

    I had the same score...

I think i gave Funeka the 3rd and Campbell the 8th or something like that, but it all worked out to being the same thing. I can't remember if it was the 7th, 8th or 9th, but one of those mid-late rounds Campbell did some good body work and staged a little rally at the end of the round in which Funeka was previously out boxing him.

I was also impressed by Funeka's boxing ability. I thought he'd be more of a stand up puncher, but he showed good footwork and did a lot of things correctly in there. I liked the way he'd double/triple the jab and then he'd turn Campbell, get off some shots and get out.

Yea i remember that round where Nate Campbell done some good work to the body near the end of the rope, and i felt that was a reasonably close round. But IMO Ali Funeka done too much work in the early going and he did control most of the round, except the last 30 seconds of that round.

And im also glad someone else noticed the way he turned Nate Campbell while he was on the ropes. That is a very good technique which i often don't see in boxers, Miguel Cotto although a very good fighter could take a page out of Ali Funeka's book, on how to get off the ropes.

He's definitely a bad style matchup for pretty much everyone in the division. Height-wise he's like the Paul W. of his division, but this dude is much better technically. He was boxing beautifully for the majority of that fight. If he could take a shot as well as Paul Williams he would have won that fight with relative ease.

I thought it was a draw too. But there was some really, really close rounds that could have gone either way. So if I saw it go either way, I wouldn't have been surprised.

i had funeka winning by one point, i can see him being avoided by many fighters unless hes a mandatory the guy has some good skills, a good jab, decent footwork, he has a decent punch output as well but his chin is a little weak and body punches might turn out to be his kryptonite.

some of the scores had a 3/4 point difference theres no way the fight was that wide, it was alot closer.

campbell has alot of options at 140 i think hatton/pacman are out of his league but paulie malignaggi, timothy bradley, urango maybe even kendall holt or torres.
