floyd did not knock chico out..... they threw in the towel out of pure realization.... although chico was down on every card and lost every round, and had been dropped 5 or 6 times, we was never really seriously hurt

hatton indeed was out.... but he did make a great fight and he deserves credit at the end of the day..... imo he simply lost to a better man, as he will lose in may.

Elite level? Tyszu, Castillo, Malignaggi, Collazo, Mayweather id call those elite and he won 4/5.

Tsyu & Castillo were on everyones top 10 before they were brushed aside by the hitman.. Only Mayweather prevailed, just as he would against Pacman, but in only half the time.. Ricky only fights the very best in their own back yards or anywhere else, always puts on a great show & has won World Titles in 2 divisions.. So lets be honest, Ricky Hatton IS a great fighter and that's why we all can't wait to watch him..

If he was, he would not be great in the same way that Pacquiao is. It has even been disputed by his most asinine critics that he is just a journeyman and a very lucky one. He has just been fortunate to have the right connections and an endearing personality.

I think this is a little unfair but they do have a point. Hatton is erratic. Since he destroyed the legend of Kostya Tyszu in 2005, undoubtedly a magnificent achievement, his record has been patchy. He split from Frank Warren and went to America to make himself into a superstar. At least that has been accomplished. His first fight in the US in Boston in 2006 was at a weight and country he had never fought in. One could say it was a courageous move but one could also argue it was a ****** one, as he should have taken on a softer opponent compared to Louis Collazo.

Collazo’s southpaw stance and range gave him a lot of trouble. Nevertheless, Hatton did his best and came out with a dubious decision.
i think he himself does not consider himself a great fighter man...

im pretty sure he sees a win over manny pacquiao to remedy that...

talip, i never agree with ur post hardly...but you do have a point...i myself dont think hatton is a sure lock for the hall of fame....and he has the attitude again like the one he had going into the tzsyu fight...everybody said he "didnt belong with kosta tzsyu"....and then after he won...people said ok hes a star....then after he suffered a horrible loss to floyd, people are saying again "he doesnt belong with the pacman"....we will see

As I have said many times before now, the majority of Hatton haters will only have seen Hatton's fights from 2005-2007/early 2008, and these performances were not great - some of them pretty bad. Those who have followed Hatton throughout his career will know that he IS a great fighter, who is very difficult to beat when he performs to his best. The Malignaggi performance was refreshing as it was a return to the Hatton of old and he completely destroyed Malignaggi, who may not be a great fighter but was given more than a chance at beating Hatton by ALOT of people prior to the fight. Mayweather Snr is bringing out the best in Hatton and is completely revitalising him, so the Hatton we will see on May 2nd will seem totally different to all the Hatton haters..
