No. "Racial pride" is just a transparent disguise for racism. I'm not gonna piss around here and pretend it's OK. *******s get the boot from me. Simple.

Right on... If I choose to take pride in the color of my skin, shouldn't you have the right to degrade me because of the color of my skin? I think so... but I think the higher road is to teach ourselves to as a human race... IGNORE that there are different races. That means no more hating on others... and no more claiming to be a victim. We should support fighters because we like what they bring to the ring... regardless of what color they are or.... and pay close attention.... OR what continent they are from.Forget sports. Racial PRIDE is wrong, period.
You should never be PROUD of anything you don't have to ACCOMPLISH. You can be happy or even REALLY happy to see someone succeed if they have certain things in common with you or how you grow up. That's a natural. But to take pride in something that is essentially an accident is ******, IMO.
In boxing, it happens more and it's pretty pathetic, really.Comment

most sensible post......i don't see anything wrong with being proud of people of your own race. just as long as you're not bashing other fighters because of theirs. don't mix up racism and being proud of your own race. i'm mexican american and am very peoud of my people, but i still root for fighters of diffrent races.
disagree. that's like saying black people shouldn't be proud of barack *****.
i don't see anything wrong w/ identifying w/ someone and rooting for them based on their race. like dude said, it gets sketchy when you "don't root for someone" or put someone else down based on theirs.
IMO it makes some boxing matches more interesting, it's good for the sport.Comment

I'm sorry, but racism, racial pride, even nationalism, all tend to slightly get under my skin. The thread is titled "Racial pride in boxing good or bad", so what I said is not entirely unfitting. I just don't understand your comment that "pride and being proud in the right way is good". I don't see how it's good.
Not accusing you of being racist, btw. You have every right to be proud, but personally, I don't see any benefit to it whatsoever.

My point would be: how come the human race has gotten itself to the point where black people are proud of *****? This line of thinking merely exists because of overly-proud white people who caused black people to think this way. If it wasn't for racial pride in the first place, you wouldn't feel proud simply because black people have a black president. You wouldn't feel anything, because color would never be an issue. You should be proud of your president if he is a good leader who can do good for your country, not merely because he is black. Personally, I'd feel proud if he turns out to be a good president who can heal the countries wounds, I wouldn't care if he came from mars and had purple skin as long as he does good.
I hope I'm making make sense here.

Of coarse they would.
It is more than likely a white man who has given black people racial equality, because i think its commonsense to suggest white people have generally been the people in the more privileged positions to give them that freedom.Comment

This I agree with. Blacks have had to fight for their rights, but I always come back to the root: This only happened because of the opposite color's racial pride.
