Maybe so, but... his still kills his workrate. I guess the closeness of the fight depends on how easily Dawson gets discouraged. If he gives up early, before Hopkins starts to tire, he loses a wide decision. He can pull it out if he fights all the way down, although I still believe that Taylor only won because Hopkins started way too late to have a prayer of getting the decision. Hopkins seems to have fixed this and fights the early rounds now, which could take Dawson's heart away early.
I definitely see what you mean with the discouragement. And I agree with you. But the thing is, I'm not sure it's something he all of a sudden figured out...he figured it out with Pavlik cause, with all due respect to Kelly, he's easy to figure out for a guy like Hopkins. Dawson is very versatile, has very fast hands, and throws punches from all angles. I just don't think Hopkins figures Dawson out as quick as he did Pavlik, and by the time he does who knows if it'll be too late.

      That could be...

Although, I will say, the trickiest fighter in the game, Joe Calzaghe, was the one who had to do the figuring out, because Hopkins was beating his ass in the early rounds.

I think Dawson is easier to figure out than Joe Calzaghe, hands down.

Plus, remember how good Hopkins is against southpaws?

Good points. I'm in no way saying I think Dawson definitely wins or anything, I just don't think it would look like the Hopkins/Pavlik right. I mean predicting a shutout is a tall order ya know, especially against someone with Dawson's natural gifts.

I would favor Hopkins in a very competitive fight.

Honestly, what the hell are you talking about, Calzaghe looked horrible against Hopkins, and won a widely disputed SD that could have gone either way. If you want to see what being owned and embarrassed looks like watch Wlad getting owned and embarrassed by Sanders.

dawson is a bad style match up for hopkins... he's southpaw, tall and has speed. hopkins is 44 years old... this means hopkins loses.

Hopkins has one loss to southpaws, and it was against Calzaghe... the very close decision where he made Calzaghe look as bad as he ever has.

              Tarver was tall as well...

The speed is the only factor that could really give Hopkins the trouble you are talking about.

Hopkins is like 11-1 against southpaws by the way, and some of them were DAMN good... Wright, Tarver, Jackson, etc.

Williams has the most natural ability; Hopkins the most accomplished
