Lennox Lewis is well respected by smart American boxing fans as a true great heavyweight, and his nationality has nothing to do with it. Calzaghe is different. The reason Americans and others call him a hypejob is because he never proved much to us. Yes he held a belt at SMW for a long time. Yes he was a good champion. But he didn't take or win the fights that earn long term endearing respect from fight fans. Guys like Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson, and Roy Jones did.
Good post, from someone understood what I was saying.

i dont think he would be regarded any different, providing that he beat the same fighters in the same fashion that he did originally

It is true to me, that opinions of boxers are different because of where they come from. Obviously you are never going to agree with me, or even realize what I'm trying to say.
I refuse to acknowledge that a 20 year old who can operate a keyboard better than most of the mongrel children that run around this forum can be this ******.

Something can't be "true to you" in any meaningful sense. Things are true or they aren't.

The reason you suck is because the whole thread, its purpose, answers, or followups are all baseless in any meaningful way. How do you prove a fighter is overrated? What sample do you use? ******s on Boxingscene? Friends? Professional writers? That crackhead on the corner?

It's still all bull **** opinions when talking about how people rate fighters. You will always find people who are overrated and underrated by different people for a plethora of reasons. And the worst part? You're not even looking for opinions or discussion. You're looking for people who agree with your opinion that American fighters are overrated. There's plenty of ****-suckery, nut riding, and race bating around here all ready.

Then I've got a newsflash for you.

Everybody is an overrated hype job when they don't lose. They're a bum when the lose.
