Numerous people have said hard stuff came off the wraps, they don't suspend someone without good evidence, and furthermore the exact substance hasn't been clarified yet, so it could get worse.
And Arum says, it's not proven, he shouldn't have his entire boxing career over even though that may still happen, and him fighting in another place is almost just as bad.
Bob Arum = ****, whom also doesn't care for boxers safety or penalising those whom risk it in the sport, because it shortens his pockets.Comment

Did you read the three articles I linked to earlier in the thread, Kris? What they actually suspended the trainer for was that the knuckle pads he used were moist. What they actually suspended Margarito for was because he has to be held responsible for the people he hires. I think they were right to suspend them both, but it isn't nearly as cut and dried as most people seem to think, in terms of what they were actually found guilty of.
The reason why I think they were right to suspend Margarito without claiming to have any hard evidence against him is put very well in The Ring's report of the hearing:
How can you punish someone when you can’t prove he did something wrong? That’s a reasonable question.
At the same time, the state’s attorney, Karen Chappelle, came up with a good analogy when she compared Margarito to an athlete who tests positive for steroids and then claims he didn’t know what was going into his body.
No one believes these athletes. Why should we believe Margarito? The su****ion here is that you can feel a hard pad when it’s placed against your knuckles, particularly when you’ve been fighting since you were 8, as he has.
And even if Margarito somehow didn’t know, he should have. An athlete has the responsibility of overseeing his body and what goes in it and on it – even if he relies on a trainer to look out for him.
But that last paragraph also applies in the case of Mosley and the steroids ...

I do agree with Dirt E Gomez though, when he says that Arum has no right to go against the commission.

You people talking about racism are ****ing ******. Boxing is one sport where you support all different races of people because you like them based on their talent regardless of ethniticity. Margarito **** suckers never stop and it's kinda pathetic. If you place knuckle wraps or a wet substance that hardens as it dries under the hand wraps it's illegal and you know it. Don't tell me the fighter didn't know his trainer was wrapping his hand illegally either. For the record he wasn't the best welterweight and would never be until he manned up and fought paul williams again to set the record straight.Comment

I don't understand why anyone is suprised about what Bob Arum has to say. He is always out for himself, and to a certain extent his fighters but he usually has some stake in it.
If Arum really believes that Margarito can do a ppv from Mexico and do 200-300k buys, it is pretty obvious why he is standing by him.Comment

Why is it that so many people are jumping down Margarito's throat for the hand wraps but alot of them still support Mike Tyson ( **** and biting ears ) and even Eric Morel ( sexual assault of a minor ) and some probably are Tupac fans even though he was convicted of ****. How can you forgive and support a rapist and want to crucify somebody for illegal hand wraps.Comment
