    I agree.

Sup Mak. That guy (The_One77) you quoted is a bit too over-the-top, he shouldn't represent the average Calzaghe fan. His posts are slightly ridiculous, to put it mildly.

I don't understand the Roy bashing, especially from Calz' fans. If anything, you'd think they'd be biggin' him up cause it might make his win seem better.

I'm a Calzaghe fan but I know for sure that Roy had **** all left when he fought Joe. Doesn't change the fact that I think Roy-Calz would have been a very competitive fight back in the day. Roy didn't like to fight at a fast pace and I reckon it might have made a difficult night for Jones.

Still, Roy was awesome, I don't care what anyone says. Joe was too. I dig both of 'em. Just wish Roy would call it a day now for the sake of his health.

Joe had a series of hand injuries, and didn't appear as sharp in the early rounds in his past few fights, as he did several years. Joe was definitely past his best, and it is probably accurate to say he was past his prime, since he hasn't been able to punch hard without re-injuring his left hand.

Floyd was at his peak when he retired, and seemed perfectly healthy, so it's not surprising his fans are more disappointed.

good points tunney...he kinda did leave his fans blueballed

It goes both ways here homey. Every motha****in day there's a ****in 'double standards against PBF ' thread whinin about how he has to do this and that when so and so doesn't. Haters make it worse by takin the bait and it pollutes the board. Joe C's boys just don't understand why he don't get full cred for beatin Bhop and RJ circa 2009 instead of 6 or 7 yrs ago, so they start baitin those guys' fans, and of course we get the Joe vs RJ/Toney/Bhop prime for prime talk that turns into childish e-war. PBF don't wanna fight no more, so he's countin his $ and spendin time wit his kids. He's happy wit that so his buttboys should be too. No need to keep bringin **** up. Joe C won his fights wit Bhop and RJ no matter how close or belated they were, so again, no need to keep bringin **** up. Why the **** not just be happy your retired fighter is happy and focus on the guys who are actually fightin?

so which fans do you think is taking it worst? discuss
The first reply was on. It's Floyd's haters who are taking Floyd's retirement worse. Joe robbed the bank and ran away, his fans know he's not able to defend ****, he was an hit and runner. Not so? How many ppv has Floyd been in with world class opposition vs Joe's ppv in the same conditions? Who was a 5 weight class champion? I guess it's not really a contest who was the better fighter but anyway... This is getting old. I can't imagine how they are saying Joe is one of the greatest, completely beats me. If he is, then so is Pavlik, Taylor, Mosley. Mosley makes me the most angry because he has beat a legit, prime WW champion while OUT OF HIS PRIME (37 years of age at WW is ancient) and he gets a #7 p4p rank. Joe beats 2 senior citizens for no belt whatsoever (belts assigned by a magazine you own don't really mean ****) and now he's a great fighter? I have trouble placing him top 5 amongst British fighters (you have Lewis, Prince, Hatton, Eubanks) let alone world great.

I agree. It's apparent Floyd isn't passionate about boxing anymore, he's been doing it his entire life. I wouldn't want anyone to be forced into something they couldn't dedicate 100% of themselves to. That's how fighters end up losing.

Won't you give JC credit for at least trying to make fights with Roy and Hopkins, 9 years ago and 7 years ago respectively? Hopkins and Jones didn't want to fight him, for whatever reason.

I don't wanna get deep into this, I'm totally sick of it, to be frank, but the fact is he couldn't get the fights and it wasn't any fault of his own. In Joe's case, the resume doesn't tell the entire story.

PS: He won Hopkins' light heavy Ring belt.

Also, the fighters you place above him all have massive respect for Calzaghe, all except for maybe Hamed. I never heard Hamed talk about Calzaghe, but I would guess he's probably quite proud of what he's achieved for British boxing.
