So if i had to pick one, it would be Kessler.
A beast against better competition? Who?

Pitty patting your way to a close decision against Margarito is not being a "beast".

      easy question.

      williams. no doubt about that.

hes just a tall welterweight who throws lots of punches.

no skills just punch punch punch.

you could say that williams win over margarito, who later assumed the no.1 postion at 147 shows that he is the best in his division, however in that fight marg was competitive and came on strong at the end. Kessler on the other hand faced a bigger version of marg in andrade and manhandled him over the 12 rounds.

PW has shown a willingness to take on all comers and fights with just about every big player from 147 to 160 have been mentioned at one point or another. however kess himself is no wuss and has shown a desire to travel to the other champs backyard to make the fight.

PW's best wins are over verno phillips, margarito, mitchell and kolle - a fairly good level of opposition. considering that he hs been chasing fights with other fighters like mayweather and cotto.

kess however has a slightly better resume with bigger wins and more wins coming against the top 10 SMW's - mundine, andrade, beyer and lucas were all ranked in the top 10.

when you break down their physical capabilties and skills they also come pretty close, kess imo is quicker, stronger, more powerful and the better boxer with better footwork. however williams has a better workrate, better chin and better stamina.

there really isn't alot that sperates the two fighters. imo they both belong in the top 10 p4p if you throw resume's out of the window. i just hope that they get the fights that they are alooking for, williams finally has chance to earn the mainstream recognition that he deserves and kess's division has the likes of bika and miranda along with the more established taylor and froch.

Kessler handled Andrade easier than Williams handled Margarito, because Margarito is a better fighter than Andrade. That should be commonsense to you. Andrade is not even on the level of Margarito so using him as a yard stick dont hold any water either.

maybe marg does edge out andrade but at the minute alot of his performances are in doubt considering the hand wrap fiasco.

Williams beat 2 of the recognized WW champs (Quintana and Margarito)

Kessler lost his big shot at fame against Joe Calzaghe and turned down fights with Jermain Taylor.

I don't hate on Kessler, but IMO Williams is the guy everyone is keeping an eye on from 154-160

Who knows, maybe one day they'll fight. I'd love to see it.

                  Quintana recognized champ?

                  Beyer
                  Mundine
                  Andrade
                  Calzaghe

                  Clearly better than

                  Margarito

Calzaghe is an infinitely better fighter than Margarito and Quintana combined. The only reason Quintana was champ was because he schooled Williams the first time.....

Since when did Kessler turn down a fight with Taylor? Do you people just make this **** up? Taylor is kicking and screaming over fighting Froch! And Di Bella has admitted they dont want to fight Kessler.

Wow, a decent reply from you. Let me give this a shot and before we get started I will put in the fact that this is just my opinion and I'm not alone based on the poll results so far.

First off, a hard fought UD win against Margarito is better than any win or loss on Kesslers record as far as I am concerned.

Secondly, his best win was against Anthony Mundine, who has shown some staying power, but he is no Margarito. I give Kess massive credit for fighting with Calzaghe for 6 rounds respectively, but I cannot rank him above a guy who beat Margarito at his peak, destroyed Quintana in the rematch and TKO'd Verno Phillips for the first time in 20 years.
