I was thinking, what's a better way of becoming a great fighter, by staying in a weak division and not losing for 10 years, or moving up a weight class and fighting better opposition, but possibly losing. If a guy like Sergio Mora stayed at 154 his entire career and never lost, would he be considered great? ( considering if he moved up he'd get broken in half, if he moved down he would to lol)
Both Hopkins and Calzaghe did it in a way, ruled one division that wasn't the greatest, (although Hopkins has sinced moved on and taken better opponents).
Calzaghe is being called great because he has never lost, but I think a lot of fighters facing his opposition could be undefeated to. Jermain Taylor beat Hopkins, he'd must certainly woop on the current RJJ.
