Paul Williams doesn't want any part of Sergiy Dzinziruk.

I don't recall exactly why this fight didn't come off. Not too late tho.

For the most part, its true. Look at Calzaghe, he sat at home in Wales defending a WBO belt for years, and nobody thought **** about him. Another good example is Felix Sturm, he will never be considered the best MW, but he will kick it in Germany collecting paychecks while out boxing scrubs.
With the HW division its a little different right now, but aside from that America is still the mecca of boxing.

I'm sorry it pisses you off but it's reality isn't it? I mean we see and hear about those asian fighters that fight their entire careers in Japan or wherever but no one pays much attention cause they aren't fighting any of the elites. Same goes for any fighter wherever that may be.

Now I have no idea if this is the reason williams is fighting winky instead, I'm just saying it could be a factor. Which honestly shouldn't be hard to figure out.

          Winky brings:
          More Publicity
          More Money
          HBO coverage
          A bigger name
          A hall of famer

          Dzinziruk brings:

          German/European audience
          WBO light middleweight title

So you gotta decide which is more important to you (in this case, Paul Williams and his handlers). Whatever the reasons, they decided to go with Winky for now and I certainly cant blame them.

Also remember Williams is fighting in 3 weight classes simultaneously. He's stated several times he wants to own belts in all three at the same time. He's only fought one or two times at 160, Winky would be a huge step up and could possible set him up for a fight with Pavlik.

                Good post.
Although it seems like the style in threads like these is to ignore an intelligent post.

Why did Paul Williams have the time to fight a bum like Andy Kolle last fall, but not a world titleholder like Dzinziruk?
