Yeah I agree. I was just watching some old Ali fights yesterday and noticed how the commentators hardly talked at all. Very long moments of silence were common, only for a brief "good right hook by Ali" etc. followed by more silence. This obviously lets us observers watch the fight in peace and not be interrupted by people talking and it's also completely unbiased. HBO practically ruins fights at times with how much nonsense they talk (sometimes completely unrelated to the actual fight!) and their extreme favoritism.
HBO's poorly commentated on fights

the commentary was alot better when they had a fighter like roy yones and george foreman instead of boring emanuel steward.....who cares if they dont know as much......Comment

Jim Lampley is whack... He should stick to Ice Skating commentary.
Kellerman on the other hand was hyping up Williams... Then when he lost against Quintana he was talking mad ****... Talking about Paul "The Punished" Williams.
**** Kellerman.Comment

HBO's poorly commentated on fights, what are they? first let me say i prefer HBO commentary too Skypsports, but sometimes they do a poor job, when the guy that wins is not the guy they wanted to win the fight.
Hatton vs Mayweather
Foreman vs Moorer
However even when they do favour a fighter they can still do a poor job. Watching Pavlik vs Miranda the commentary on Skysports was very exciting, but when i watched the HBO version it was no where near as exciting. I think Skysports did a better job on Taylor vs Pavlik 1 aswell, ironically enough.
Did they do a good job of Pavlik vs Hopkins ? because it seemed like they felt like the wrong guy won their too.Comment

Co sign that. I like Steward, because he seems like a genuinely nice guy, but i agree he is boring. I like Al Bernstein, because he is informative, but sometimes he overanalyze's fights and he too can becomes very tedious to listen too.Comment
