"Realised" is too strong, I'm sure Hopkins thought he could win, but he obviously thought it was a high risk fight and decided wanted no part of it at that time. Asking Showtime at the last moment to double the purse was not a genuine negotiating tactic, he just didn't want the fight at that time. (Hopkins used similar tactics in his negotiations with Roy Jones). Instead he took an alphabet mandatory against a nobody for far less money.

i used to respect froch but what a twat. he's speaking as if he'd accomplished more than calzaghe in his fights but you haven't yet. i may be british and probably should support froch but i hope taylor knocks him out. early stoppage would be fantastic. i might grow to like him after all but at the mo, he's a very disrespectful boxer who deserves a beat down.

I've never seen anyone say that Jones ducked Calzaghe. That would be a truly crazy thing to say. But it's also unfair to say that Calzaghe never tried to get a fight with Jones when Jones was at his peak, or to say that he was unwilling to travel in order to do so. E.g. see here, from 2000, and here, from 2001. Neither of them ducked the other, it's just one of those things that it never happened.

Well, there were allot of guys saying that. I cannot speak for what you have seen or not, but they existed. If I felt like it I could show you some threads , but I really don't feel like wasting the time. I have never claimed that Joe ducked Jones directly. I don't think he was 'scared' of him per se', I just think he didn't want to take the massive risk associated with coming over here and moving up in weight. Nothing to be ashamed of there. I mainly just think that if anyone had to chase the fight, it should have been Joe. He was responsible for moving up in weight and coming across the sea to have a shot at beating the #1 P4P fighter just like Hatton did. For whatever reason, it didn't happen and I don't blame anyone really but I don't want anyone saying Jones was the reason the fight didn't come off because that is far from the truth as explained by both fighters and even in the links that you have posted. Any way it goes, I'm a little winded , as Joe fans are pretty hard core at this point and it is becoming hard to get a word through, so I'll leave the subject alone for a while. Take care.

I agree wholeheartedly with that. Anyone who has really claimed that Jones ducked Calzaghe is an idiot.

FWIW, I also think Jones would have won by a clear UD if they'd met at their peaks, although I think it would have been one of his toughest fights.

Froch is a decent fighter but he is no ATG his defence is awful and until Pascal ran out of steam in the 6th he had won almost every round, how anyone can say Froch beat Pascal easy I can not understand I had it 6 rounds to 5 and 1 even for Froch, If this fight was in Canada Pascal would probably have won lol. I will hold judgment on that win though if Pascal comes back and has some good wins it will look good for Froch if he then losses to some bum it will look bad.
