We can all just speculate what could have been.
True man. I'm a Calzaghe fan but I'll be the first to admit he had flaws, or at least he could probably have made more of an effort to get those high profile fights. Sometimes though, the resume doesn't make the man, if you see what I mean. There are a few fighters out there who are better than their resume's suggest. Calzaghe, Kessler and Jones being three that come to mind. I love these guys. All of them have great skills, and it's just unfortunate that we didn't see fights such as Calzaghe-Hopkins or Calzaghe-Jones a bit earlier, they would have been blazing.

But man, who knows why Hopkins, Calz and Roy didn't fight earlier. There's a lot of reasons, and a great deal of politics involved in this sport. Nothing is ever clear cut, black and white, or cut and dried. I don't think any of them went out of their way to fight each other though. All of them could probably have made a bit more of an effort. I'm still a fan of all of 'em.

When you really look into it deeper though that is complete BS. Chris Byrd and Floyd Paterson were only really ever middleweights and had much better runs at HW. No win over Ruiz will ever be hailed as great, sorry.

indeed, HELL YES!! without a doubt eh?
calzaghe would hand lennox his ass without even making the wieght, lennox could be 230 or w/e he is and calzaghe could be at 175 and he'd still win right?
i also think calzaghe woudl win without a doubt

Ruiz was a good win, never a great win though. Lewis woulda been a great win.
I have to. Roy was absolutley crazy for shedding off that heavyweight build and fighting Tarver so fast without a layoff. Joe Calzaghe has never put his body through the stress Roy Jones Jr. did. And we've seen what others fighters in this gen looked like when they shed off muscle.. so Roy wasn't full of hot air excuses for once. Calzaghe's slide doesn't look anywhere like Jones'. He's got bad hands and lost half a step. Roy's got no legs and can't even take a slap and looks older than Hopkins ring wise.

                      Roy's 49-1 was better.
