    Classic NSB cliches...

The first two in a series:

    1. "This fite will be just like hamid versos barerra".

Cos any fight involving an English fighter in America will resemble another one, irrespective of whether the fighters involved have styles, records, racial make-up anything like the two fighters involved.

Prince Naseem was from England. Other fighters are from England. Therefore any fight involving any fighter from England = like Hamed vs. Barrera. Cutting insight from the mightiest tards.

    2. "Am I the only one dat think's..."

Yes. Yes you are. You have such a keen, rapier-like insight into the world of pugilistic debate that you're the only person on this entire forum that noticed your bog standard observation. Well done you.

The first one is usually used, when the fight involves a heavyhanded slugger against a more refined boxer-puncher.

I know it's a bit of a pain in the ass being constantly reminded how the british star got severely beat up by the little mexican, but this is something you will have to live with.

I disagree, these days I see that it's become so watered down it involves ANY UK fighter. Remember, this is tardville.

I never got to experience Hamed's peak (he wasn't on free TV) so I missed out on all that. I could freakin' care less that he was a Brit, I'm not that big of a bias poster.

But it does kinda amuse me how people talk of Barrera as if it was his first big test and he failed. I know his CV wasn't stellar, but didn't he take nearly all the belts before that happened?

It's still annoying, and it's not about being a fan of Hamed, more about being british and watch all british fighters put into that less then stellar group.

Well one thing can be said about English fighters, regardless of race. A couple seem to have an affinity for the taste of ring posts when they do fight here State side.......

Hamed would have held every major belt if Vazquez wasn't stripped by the WBA before the fight. (They didn't want their title unified with the WBO's)

There's a fun fact for you.

Yeah, the "grouping" mentality is what bugs me, it's so silly. It's like when people talk about "European" fighters as if they're talking about one tiny country.... seemingly unaware that "Europe" has over twice the population of "Da State's".

I have been on this board for a while and I haven't seen anyone base the outcome of a Brit fighting in America to Hamed-Barrera. It would be foolish considering Hamed had such a unique style. Can you point out where this comparison has been made? Which fights and by who?

I've seen it at least a dozen times.

Ones I recall are probably Hatton (any fight he's ever had) and Calzaghe. Oh, and David Haye.

"He will get stopped by brutal ko"

Because the alternative would be by soft or gentle ko?
