calzaghes only excuse is that he fought old fighters....well actually he didnt pick to fight hopkins that was part of his hbo contract....when the contract was signed the last fight he was gonna fight was the light heavyweight champion in the usa....so it would have been tarver, wright, or hopkins....all who would have been old men in 2008.........i didnt like the way he went out but there was nothing else he could do besides fight hopkins again........people claim he picked on roy but roy-tito was on ppv to set up a championship fight

meanwhile roy yones has the worst excuses:

he lost it because of weight drain after the ruiz fight......but the calzaghe fight makes it painfully clear that he was only affected in the 1st tarver fight....hes just a mental wreck

he gets credit because he gave tarver a rematch.....dont give him credit he just has a huge ego......he couldnt stand tarvers loud mouth

he lied to everybody that he was back in the calzaghe fight.....his dad even said he was in the best shape of his life.....then he blamed the loss on his cut when the fight was practically over by then...and the worst is who else would claim a 1st round knockdown made you lose focus

he fought ex cab drivers because he didnt want to fight overseas because judges robbed him....when all the greats ali, robinson, etc fought in multiple countries.....im sure they could find a neutral country besides korea

and my favorite....he tested 6 times over the testosterone limit because of OTC ripped fuel...lmao

it has alot more to do with roys ability to carry that weight than the actual fight itself....

I think Roy is really overrated. The guy had a great run but when it went, it really went. I rate Roy outside of the top 50 of all time but he still is probably a top 75 fighter. With that said he still did more than Joe.

He said himself before the Ruiz fight, his body was getting old and age was catching up with him. After the Hopkins-Calzaghe fight, he even said Calzaghe shouldn't get much credit for beating Hopkins. And if Calzaghe beat him , he shouldn't get much credit for that either- I remember seeing it on ESPN.
