The Most Complete Fighter

I have an opinion about the rjj reflex fighter thing.I have had a drink,so i will try to make sense,lol.Roy looked untouchable between 1992-2001,in fact as I said on a different thread today,In that period he looked like the most talented fighter I have ever seen.Reflex fighters that good are very rare to say the least.In England we had a reflex fighter who look like he was made out of high tensile rubber in the nineties.His name was Naseem Hamed.Now it seems to me that the lower weights have shorter careers because speed is such a major factor,and I cant see a featherweight hopkins on the horizon.The moment naz started to slow down,he got found out by a great fighter in Barrera.I think a similar thing happened to Roy.His speed and reflexes were starting to wane even before the move up to HW,so the move back down was always going to be a recipe for disaster.Both fighters made their name on these physical attributes which it is nearly impossible to carry on for too long,and roy mixing it in higher weights could do it for longer.We talk about the complete fighter here,and I have stated my choices already,but as a footnote,I dont think you can discount reflex fighters entirely as they are(if they also carry power),more aesthetically easy on the eye,and one fighter who might co-sign that last sentence....Ali

a good way to do this is take the best fighters and rate their attributes from 1-10. whoever has the highest score when added up is the most well rounded. but if they are all speed and power and have 0 defense i guess they shouldnt be included

I just thought of this from another thread. Name some of the most complete, all-round fighters of all-time. By this I mean fighters who didn't rely on one, natural attribute.

For example, Foreman without power is very ordinary. RJJ/Whitaker without such good reflexes look a lot more beatable, etc, etc.

I'm going to start a put forward Marvin Hagler. A truly complete fighter, the man could do everything. Even discounting the man's amazing chin, he's still en elite level fighter.

Agree with you, Andrew. Hagler = amazing all-round fighter.
