Look he might beat Hopkins again, If a rematch took place, and he is a really good boxer; but he is not the "greatest of his generation" he just isnt man. Calzaghe reached his TRUE prime right by the Lacy fight and in opinion PEAKED around the Kessler fight. Now as for Hopkins and Roy Jones they've passed their primes for a long time. PRIME for PRIME, between the three, Calzaghe comes in last..............

I'd listen to him.. He was in "Over the Top" for God's sake. A Classic.“Joe would have worked in any era,” said Stallone, who was ringside in Las Vegas in April when Calzaghe won the light-heavyweight belt from another American legend, Bernard Hopkins. “He’s like one of these classical 1940s fighters, a Fritzie Zivic, who could go 15 rounds comfortably, and he doesn’t have to power you out with one shot because he’s in unbelievable shape. He will sit there and pepper the hell out of you with an unorthodox style. This hasn’t been seen in America for some time, so we dismiss it because everyone in America expects this thudding, crashing, bone-jarring punching style - supposedly this determines if a man is tough. It’s not true. What Joe does makes him a tougher man in my estimation because he puts himself in the teeth of the fire for a longer period to achieve his goal. That’s balls. Joe is one of the best boxers of his generation, no question.”
Nigel Benn and Rocky Balboa call him ATG best in 20yrs.
Now should i listen to them or the white boxer hating board?Comment

Bottom line: Unless you feel you are a better boxer than Nigel Benn, have been in more wars than Benn or Dawson or any other boxer who priases Joe you simply aren't qualified to make that judgement.
p.s. No, I am no longer a fan of Calzaghe because I feel he never attained what he could have in the ring
p.p.s Yes, the hood **** have long had things against white boxers but just as many warm to Joe now he's retired I believe they have it in them to drop the hate & warm to Vitali in the same way afetr he goes.
Who knows? Eventually there may be a degree of fair observation & respect between all races in boxing. I don't know for sure but I hope so.Comment
