Rocky Balboa: Calzaghe best of his generation

“Joe would have worked in any era,” said Stallone, who was ringside in Las Vegas in April when Calzaghe won the light-heavyweight belt from another American legend, Bernard Hopkins. “He’s like one of these classical 1940s fighters, a Fritzie Zivic, who could go 15 rounds comfortably, and he doesn’t have to power you out with one shot because he’s in unbelievable shape. He will sit there and pepper the hell out of you with an unorthodox style. This hasn’t been seen in America for some time, so we dismiss it because everyone in America expects this thudding, crashing, bone-jarring punching style - supposedly this determines if a man is tough. It’s not true. What Joe does makes him a tougher man in my estimation because he puts himself in the teeth of the fire for a longer period to achieve his goal. That’s balls. Joe is one of the best boxers of his generation, no question.”

Nigel Benn and Rocky Balboa call him ATG best in 20yrs.

Now should i listen to them or the white boxer hating board?

First off let me begin that I am white and I believe Calzaghe is a really, really good boxer. However, no way in hell do I believe that (prime 4 prime) Calzaghe is better than Roy Jones Jr or Bernard Hopkins...............and that ridiculous talk of Calzaghe would beat Hagler, Hearns etc. are you f u c k i n g kidding me????????????????????????????????? Are you guys serious? A washed up Roy Jones and B-Hop knock Calzaghe down........now imagine what Hagler does to him...........

Not true. But yes Joe really really sucks. A good fighter with decent workrate hands Joe his ass. Chad Dawson comes to mind. But hell, he's retired now and never proved himself. WHat a ****ing shame. If he had real talent we will never know. Most pros at 26 have met and surpassed the hardest challenges Joe has faced: prime but unproven Kessler and hypejob (as we would later see many times) Lacy. Not good enough imo.
