Corrales busts up Gatti's face and stops him in the mid rounds.
Prime Arturo Gatti vs. Prime Diego Corrales at 135

Corrales only lost to top shelf fighters (Casamayor, Castillo, Mayweather, Clottey), even in his prime Gatti was never in that league. Still Gatti had some guts, and Corrales didn't like it when guys wouldn't stop coming, so he'd give up some rounds. In the end I see either a late KO for Corrales or a win Corrales UD along the lines of 8-4 or 7-4-1 (with some KDs mixed in).
It'd be a fan friendly fight.Comment

these are my two favorite fighters of all time. i know they're not the best, but they're the guys i grew up watching, and they were always exciting.
anyway, this fight has been talked about a lot. it definitely ranks high up there on a lot of peoples fantasy fights list. there's little doubt in my mind that corrales would take this. for one, 135 was not gatti's best weight. he accomplished much more at 130 and 140. corrales had wins over a higher caliber of opponents than gatti. also, gatti was a face-first brawler when he was fighting at 135. perfect style for corrales who was a more composed and polished in-fighter. i think corrales would win a fairly clear, but not necessarily wide ud. but it'd be a war.Comment
