You have the winners face each other on the undercard of the unification between Marquez-Campbell (or Marquez-Funeka or Diaz-Funeka). Then at another date on some undercard or main event, you have the winners face off in the finals to get a shot at the undisputed lightweight champ in the division.

Marquez, Funeka, Campbell, and Diaz aren't probably going to get shots at Pacquiao. Marquez might, but I doubt it will be before the tournament is done with.
      Quoting myself for page 2.

Oh my..taking risks in boxing! How dangerous!! Either Valero fights nobodies and then gets a pacquiao shot or he proves himself by fighting top contenders. How horrible that would be. All the other 9 guys are working their way back to the top also. It's the perfect solution to basically clean out lightweight.

      This is good for boxing.

As in most of these guys (Casamayor, Chavez, Diaz, and even Barrios) are on their last legs. You also have the younger contenders who just lost pretty badly (David Diaz and Katisids) and the unknown/unworthy people (Pitalua and Valero). Right now, none of them, deserve any title shot at all (official title shot, not the vacant WBC belt).

However if you have them fight it out, proving their worth, you get one fighter who worked his way back to the top the good ol fashion hard way, for one last shot. I love the idea. It's like a Contender that actually means something and minus the family drama bull****.

Yeah I can. Casamayor-Marquez II doesn't sound very interesting right now, but if he proves his worth, he deserves his shot again. He also was competitive the first time, so why not if he proves himself.

Another thing, it also gets RID of most of the other people and turns them either into gatekeepers for future prospects or retired.

i thoroughly enjoyed Casamayor/Marquez, i thought it was a brilliant display of world-class boxing skills and i wouldnt mind watching them two again. although, the announcers ****** and made it seem as if it was a boring fight

let me get this straight, a tournament where the best of the bunch reaches the top, providing continious boxing for a period of time and people are complaining about it?

I thought the commentators did a good job originally watching it, but I rewatched the KO last night and I think they were a little dull leading up to that point. Good emotion on the KO punch though. I liked them.
