Pavlik Is A More Legitimate Opponent Than Dawson

Neither Pavlik nor Dawson have a sparkling record but that's not a big issue since neither has been around the world title seen for more than a few years however the standout name from both their records is Jermain Taylor. Glen Johnson's name carries some weight however I don't think Dawson won that fight and I consider that loss more damaging than one to Bernard Hopkins.

Also, I believe Pavlik has a better chance of beating Calzaghe. I can't see Joe losing on the scorecards which makes the alternative a KO victory and as Pavlik is the bigger puncher he has the better chance.

Finally, a fight between Calzaghe and Pavlik will make more money.

Pavlik would get schooled. Dawson would stand a much better chance.

Pavlik is a big draw and star due to his exciting fights. Dawson is pretty much a no draw whatsoever to the general public. Dawson is the better boxer though.

Calzaghe already beat Pavlik according to some fans.

          Calzaghe>Hopkins>Pavlik>Taylor

Taylor x2, McKart and Miranda > Adamek, shot Tarver and "beating" Glen Johnson.

Sorry friend, but you have one of the worst opinions on the matter. Theres no point even debating. You're actually proving my point further.

Spoken like a true Calzaghe fan.

Dawson is currently in the proper division (and has carried some power upto it), Pavlik is travling even further north than he did in the Hopkins fight, and we have no clue as to whether he is capable of KOing folks up there.

Dawson I felt won, and even if he didnt he was in the same zip code with Johnson, Pavlik was eaten alive by Hopkins.

Perhaps it might make Joe a few more bucks, but only a Calzottke fan would want us to believe Pavlik is the more legit opponent.

Amazed you'd say a MW as powerful as he is, with less speed, variety, accuracy and combinations overall would be more likely to KO Calzaghe's tough chin.

Joe's been there done that, even if he took a shot he wouldn't be too phased.

Calzaghe dominates Pavlik. He loses a few rounds or so to Dawson whom is much better.

First of all, neither me nor any other so-called Calzaghe fan has any reason to say Pavlik is a more credible choice of opponent out of loyalty to Joe. It's not as if we are expecting imminent news of this fight so I think we can pretty much dismiss that allegation.

I understand Dawson is at ligh-heavyweight with Joe just now but I don't remember specifying what weight any fight would take place at. As it happens, the fight with Calzaghe and Pavlik would have to take place at 168.

The Dawson and Johnson fight was close and you could make a case for either winning however Hopkins is a far more formidable opponent and when you look beyond those fights I think Pavlik comes out on top.

The financial aspect has to be taken into consideration, let's not pretend it doesn't.
