I was really looking forward to finally seeing Mayorga fight live. I haven't worked with him in a while, so I have no idea what the real reason is. I have some opinions, but I'm not going to give them.

It'll still be a great night. The main reason I'm going is because of Nate Campbell.

Is there any talk of a replacement for Mayorga?

Mayorga has fought and won many alphabelt titles. I dont see ANYONE going of their way to give him credit for winning the WBC light middleweight title against long time pro, 44-2-0 Michele Piccirillo. A fight he which Mayorga put him on the canvas 3 times. A fight in which some predicted him to be out boxed. So you putting stock in these alphabelt titles is off.

I think everyone agrees Mayorga is good for the sport. This is professional boxing not charity. You can cry all you want about Rivera but nobody cares. As if that wasnt enough Mayorga did fight on that card, and won.
Exactly, it's professional boxing. Which means you need to be professional.

Showing up to a fight 8 pounds overweight is not professional.

Taking an illegal diuretic to make weight is not professional.

Pulling out of a fight on 10 days notice (unless he really got injured) is not professional.

Does he deserve the benefit of the doubt? No. So Mayorga can stay off of HBO and fight on ESPN for all I care. Am I supposed to give this guy a pass because he talks **** and lets people punch him? **** that.

yeah... I really liked seeing Dela Hoya beat the shiy-yeet out of Mayorga. At least he does not talk when his mouth is full (with punches that is)

This is a sad turn of events, i agree in the sense that perhaps mayorga was not in complete shape, however this must be dissapointing for angulo i'm sure the replacement will not be anywhere near mayorgas reputation in boxing.. Mayorgas is not at his prime, but he would have been a good steping stone for the young prospect alfredo angulo...

As a fan of Mayorga, I felt bad that he was takin this fight to begin with. I don't know how anyone could see him pullin this off, I had Angulo takin this within 5 rounds. Theres just no way Mayorga would be able to take a heavy shot like Alfredo's, especially when Angulo really lets em rip.

But I want to see Daniel Santos vs Angulo in the near future, as for a replacement I have no ****in idea. But why is Alfonso Gomez bein considered? lol He's a fairly small Welterweight, that aint any help to Angulo.

I just wish Mayorga would have backed out earlier, would have given em alot more time to find a new opponent.
