oh this is gr8, its not enough that MAB is past it, and old, ( not that khan is true world class, and enough to expose it), but hes beenforced to fight even with a gash like that. wots next huh, barrera gets run over by a truck, but hes still been pushed in2 the fight in march, does n e 1 else get the feeling that 'shark eyes' warren & prescotts *****, r doing everything they can do to catch barrera at his most ever vulnerable. this is why people say boxing is dying, hardly n e 1 gets a fair shake n e more, theres always an angle!

Barrera-Khan fight is still on for March 14

      From ESB:

Amir Khan's mega showdown against Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera is still on for Saturday 14 March at the Manchester Evening News Arena. There had been concerns that the fight would have to be postponed following the cut Barrera received last Saturday night against Freudis Rojas in Mexico, but following a thorough medical examination he has been given the all clear to box.

Promoter Frank Warren, who has been in constant contact with Barrera's promoter Don King, is delighted that the fight is still on.

"It's a great relief to finally get confirmation that Barrera will be ready for March 14,"

"Sometimes these problems happens in boxing and you have to get through them, but I'm delighted that the fight is on and now we can get back to business and sell the remaining tickets for what will be a great fight"

More than 15,000 tickets have already been sold and it promises to be an explosive encounter between the young Bolton star and the seven time/three weight world champion.

Khan, who is training at Freddie Roach's gym in Los Angeles, said, "It was a worrying few days but it's great news to hear that it's still on the original date,"

"I was never worried that the fight wouldn't happen, at the worst it would have been delayed by a couple of weeks, but now my team are all geared up and ready for March 14,"

"My training camp is going absolutely fantastic and I will be in the best shape of my life come fight night."

I'm gonna try to translate your message enough to respond. It is NO ONES FAULT EXCEPT HIS that he is still fighting, NO ONES FAULT except his that he had to fight such a lopsided fighter, and NO ONES FAULT but his that he's fighting Kahn. You must be ******ed if you think he has a gun to his head.

He had a good thing with GBP and he blew it. Good riddance. The happiest night of my life was when this clown was destroyed by Pac.

I've lost alot of respect for Barrera for not postponing the fight, even his team wanted him out till May. Mark my words if Khan lands anything meaningful or opens that cut Frank Warrens ref will stop this fight prematurely

What makes you say Barrera is a clown? A multi weight world champ and one of the best featherweights of his era? A fighter who fought the best the sport had to offer over 4 weight classes, a fighter who featured in one of the best fights in boxing history?

I can’t see Barrera bullied into anything. He’s financially secure and he doesn’t have to worry about his legacy. In my mind this can mean several things:

              1) The cut wasn’t as bad as it was made out to be.
              2) Barrera realizes that the sooner the better for this fight both due to his age and where Khan is at in his career.
              3) Maybe Barrera wants Khan and his team to think that he’s injured and didn’t train properly. Maybe he wants to lull them into thinking this will be an easy fight. Who knows….

                well, this is good news.

let's face it, why are people bitching?....like a fighter as experienced as Barrera is going to fight injured - behave.

All plausable but surely a cut is a cut and 6 weeks isnt sufficient time for it to properly heal be it 3 or 14 stitches

Probably, but then why fight? I just think there's something going on and I mean that not in a pressure on MAB or some JFK-conspiracy way, just that it's odd. Maybe I'm reading too much into the whole thing.....
