Originally posted by slicksouthpaw16 View PostWell since there is no other fights for him at light heavyweight, he has no other choice but to drop to 168 or try to have them come up to fight him, and on one is actually going to move to 175 and fight him. Kessler wants no part of Dawson and Garry Shaw has already offered them a fight which they have turned down. The last name Kessler fought was Calzaghe and that was two years ago, why would he all of sudden fight Dawson?
Now hes saying 168 could be his "best weight". Seems a bit contradictory to me. And surely if it is your best weight, you'd wanna go after the top guy.......not Paul Williams.

I fail to see how he's fighting the best fights out there, he'd rather fight a blown up Welterweight.
blown up WW? i bet you're one of the same ppl who say PW is too big for WW, and should be fighting at MW anyway.......SMH
Originally posted by Addition View PostWTF, he's willing to go down a weight for Williams but not Kessler. He wouldn't even fight Kessler at a catchweight. Strange.
Originally posted by IMDAZED View PostYup, especially in a rematch. He shouldn't overlook Tarver at ALL, who has been extremely quiet leading up to this bout.
Tarver's left + Dawson's concentration lapses = danger.
they say in boxing never overlook anyone, but i'm having a hard time figuring out anything tarver can do in a rematch differently, or any weaknesses we saw w/ chad in the first fight tarver can exploit. call me crazy, but i think the young guy has every reason to be as ****y and confident going into the rematch w/ tarver as he is.....don't forget how much **** tarver talked before the first fight.......
Originally posted by Migs View PostMe too. I like Chad Dawson but I'd like to see him stick around longer. He is a phenomenal boxer and even as some people might not have enjoyed his first fight with Tarver, I thought it was amazing. He put on a clinic.
With my above statement said, as much as I like Dawson, I'm still upset that he won't give Johnson a rematch. To me, that's what a real champion does.
had dawson been chasing mandatories, or some **** like that, then i'd agree, "hey, why not fight glen johnson again?" but dawson is looking to fight better fighters, so don't knock the kid. he beat johnson already, nothing wrong with wanting calzaghe or hopkins, guys at his weight who are ranked higher and more known than he or glen johnson.
Originally posted by ~Tunney View PostInstead of chasing fights with old fighters like Tarver, Johnson, Calzaghe and Hopkins, Dawson should fight someone his own age like Tavoris Cloud.
Originally posted by KrisSilver View PostI don't really see what's so unique or admirable with what Chad's said here, sorry. I quite like the guy and think he's good, but firstly the main thing people have gone on at him for is re matching Johnson, he doesn't from what I saw, mention a single thing about it.
Secondly he seems to moan about not being the best LHW in the world, without having any comprehension or respect for the logical rules and reasons why, which most don't complain of.
Those are, Hopkins beat the man at LHW, so became the man.
Calzaghe beat the man, top guy, at LHW, and became the top man.
To say Calzaghe has really not fought there is just ****** sour g****s, yes he has, and he toppled the top guy, more than you've done I'm afraid mate. Guys go up a division for a big win all the time, look at Pacman at mo. So get used to it.
Chad has quite simply, not done this. He's not beaten the two guys above him, and with hardly loads of LHW fights for any of them, he does not deserve to suddenly go above those guys whom were #1 and another whom beat him to become #1. These are standard logical rules for Ring rankings. Perhaps he needs to study and appreciate them more before speaking out like this, because it makes him look a little silly.
Then he's just listed a few names as to who he'd eventually like to fight. Most guys have idea's, dreams for whom they'd like to fight perhaps, idea's and such, to earn the most, get as high p4p as possible, become as big a name as possible. So it's nothing more than that, listing some desires of that.
To top it off, he's willing to go down to 168 to face someone whom has not titles there, has spoken out of no plans to even fight there, but he won't for the guy whom has fought there for years, has belts, and is regarded as the best there? WTF is up with that?
also, in a year or two, when dawson is imagining fighting williams, who's to say he won't have moved up to SMW and won a belt or two. he's supposed to be fighting winky a MW, so you think a move up in weight in the next two years, is unrealistic for PW, a guy who has expressed an interest to fight the best fighters at w/e weight? hell, i applaud dawson for even having an interest in fighting PW, a guy no other top tier fighter wants to fight.....
and your last point, is mine also......hopkins and calzaghe are both ranked higher than dawson, and rightfully so, by your reasoning and mine's alike.....
so explain to me, what's with everybody's hate for dawson for wanting to fight the two guys ranked above him, instead of facing a guy nobody cares for in kessler?

the fact is, KESSLER called out dawson.......
dawson said, "i'm a champ at 175, so come see me there."
kessler didn't want to. he wanted it at 168, or a catchweight.
obviously the diff btw. the two is that KESSLER called him out, PW has not. i'm guessing it would only be fair to meet PW at 168, considering he's coming from as low as WW......whereas kessler calls him out (1), is a nobody (2), has beaten nobody (3), and doesn't look to beat anybody relevant either (4).
who's kessler's next opponent?

I dont get some fans.
On one hand, Dawson shouldnt fight Kessler because hes a "nobody".
Yet on the other, Kessler is nothing because hasn't fought anybody.
Make up your minds.

basically what you're saying tarver's argument is......"i'm going to do the same thing i did the first fight, land my left a "few" times, and hope it affects him this time around."
to me, tarver would be a lot more dangerous, in this rematch, had he done ANYTHING in the first fight. i just don't see anything else he can do, except like you said, land the left, and hope it hurts the guy the second time around.....
