    EDIT:

I think Vic already leans to the 'Barrera' side of the equation. Moving up and making history by unifying against --- and dominating --- a heavily favored and very highly rated talent like Mijares is as categorical a statement as you can make in that direction.

The most hardest thing in boxing is when you become rich, It takes away your motivation and thats why most boxer who become instantly rich off boxing dont really have the hunger to go for the extra bit needed.
That is a part of the equation that I didn't really factor in. Good point. Money isn't the root of evil. The laziness it manifests with the people that earn too much of it, is.

Very true. He still remained supremely confident after a loss like that, which allowed him to believe he could actually do it. Pretty amazing, when you think about it all.

Good thread, I really think he's better now, I'm still shocked for his win against Mijares, but I really think he needs to avenge that loss.

Vic Darchinyan is a special fighter who met up with a fighter as fast and almost as powerful as he is and was not able to deal with the initial shock of what that feels like. Since then Vic has drastically altered his overall style and while he is still very agressive, he does feint and slip more shots now that he would get caught with coming in while loading up on power shots before. That shows a willingness to be better and I think he is definitely P4P material. If Vic gets past Arce convincingly, expect him to be in the 7-10th position P4P.

Definitely, and I was among those who questioned whether he'd be the same fighter after Donaire ****** him out.

Well...he isn't the same fighter. He's actually regrouped, adjusted and gotten better. Weird.

Seeing that evolution, the singleminded will he's exhibited in getting back up on top, has given me a certain amount of extra respect for Vic that I didn't have before. I'm almost...almost...a grudging fan of the guy at this point. Motherfucker proved me wrong, so I almost feel like I owe it to him to eat crow and get on his side.

I always loved Hamed...always...Naz was an idol growing up. But he folded mentally after the Barrera defeat, and there's no denying it. Vic arguably had a lot more to bounce back from and did it in the most definitive manner possible (short of directly avenging the Donaire loss, which he may yet do). The only defence you can really make for Hamed is that his fortune was made and once he swallowed his first defeat and the momentum was derailed there was no getting that hunger back.

                  Vote. Discuss.
I agree 100% which is unfortunate because I think Nonito Donaire is very talented and deserves to have more attention coming his way. I think a rematch with Darchinyan would be very exciting and I know Vic wants it. We'll see what happens with Nonito though, I'm hoping he gets more time in the spotlight.

I don't know. He's gotten a ****load better man. I don't think he'd get past Montiel. Hell, I'd pick Mijares to beat him in a rematch if Mijares shows improvements like boxing more.

can u keep biased view out of this. Look between Mijares and Montiel, Mijares has a better chance of winning because Mijares boxes more and is much sliker.......having said that I dont believe Mijares will win a re-match between the two because the beating Mijares received will always be in his mind, and that mental block will bother him. I have always said that if Vic prepares for a fight and is motivated for one......he will be unstoppable. However he is not always motivated and sometimes overlooks opponents which he did with Donaire and I'm hearing he is slacking off a little bit for his upcoming fight. We'll just have to wait for Saturday don't we........
