The loss to Spinks isn't a factor here at all and Evander was not prime in his 12th fight; he was still a relative professional novice which is why the win is so awesome.

    Here's how DMQ breaks down:
Opp faced: 8 (Crous, Holyfield, Ocasio, Murphy, Daniels, Parkey, Williams, Miller)
Titles: .33 (WBA; three titles available in 85)
Defenses: .33 (made 1 vs. Neon Leon)
    Subtotal: 8.66
Points for KO against opp considered: 6 (2 each; KO'd Crous, Murphy, Parkey)
    KOBY: -2 (Holy)
    UD: 0
Quality wins: 1 (.25 each for Booze, Crous, Murphy, Parkey)
Quality Losses: -6 (Holy twice, Ocasio, Daniels, Williams, Miller)
    Quality Draws: 0
    Total: 7.66

Well if you don't consider a 25 year old Evander, who had a very good amateur background, had already won two titles, in his 17th pro fight, a more formidable opponent than a 40 year old Carl Thompson, who'd been stopped 5 times, a couple of times by clubfighters, then I can't help you.

I was referring to his first win over Qawi in the previous but I see your point. However, Haye (I assume that's the reference) getting stopped in his 11th pro fight by a solid vet shouldn't wreck him either. And Holy v. Thompson doesn't make the difference anyways.

You've got a good point there, though Haye had a pretty decent amateur run himself. I guess it's just strange to see some of those names on an "ATG" CW list. But I guess the fact that Holyfield, despite spending only 18 fights there(and his first 18 pro fights at that,) is by most creditable accounts the greatest CW ever, is a testament to either the historical mediocrity of the division, Evander's greatness, or both.

            A little bit of both.

Nice list, good, well thought out article, and accurate as any formula for quantifying greatness in such a young division. I'm off to watch the Superbowl.

There will be far more gripe when I present the results at 168, where I'll be looking ONLY at body or work in the division. It's surprising me as I work it out.

Love the biasness. De leon had more titles defenses than Holyfield, He was more times the Lineal champ, Have more victories, less loses and More KOs, and they fought the same amount of champions, but they put Holyfield at 1. Thats Bull ****!!!!!!!!!!!

You think every list you didn't write is BS. I like that about you and it's amusing.
