This is what bothers me about Floyds fans.......they think every fighter has to prove more and more before being worthy of a fight with Floyd. First it was let Cotto and Margs fight and the winner should get May. They did. Now trhat shane has beaten the consesus number 1 welterweight in the world he should rematch Cotto for a fight with Floyd to make sense. Unbeleivable. The fight makes sense now if Floyd were to come back. One because Mosely is the top welterweight in the world, and two, because it would do good numbers.
This thread is about the history of Shane turning down offers to fight floyd.
    Not about Floyd fans.
I will agree Floyd fans get REALLY protective of their fighter.
But IMO the hate Floyd gets is what is causing it..dont u think?

But why do u think Shane turn down numerous of chances to fight floyd?

The hate Floyd gets is brought on by himself and his fans who think other fighters should have to jump thru hoops to get a fight with him. By not seeking out the toughest challenges and instead chasing money.

Got to watch the super bowl right now, but I'll check back on this thread later and answer or at least give my opinion on why these two have never fought. Peace.

So I guess you feel the same way about Sugar Ray Leonard who never fought Pryor and made Hagler wait 6 years?

I guess You feel that way about Roy Jones, Joe Calzaghe, Oscar, etc
All these fighters made other fighters jump through hoops in order to fight them and all of them avoided certain fighters.
Nobody can say they didnt avoid people and set circumstances and conditions in order for fighters to fight them.
This didnt just start with Floyd and it wont end with him.
Shane duck Floyd for his entire Prime years where is your outrage about that?
Cotto duck Floyd at 140 and is ducking Paul Williams @ 147 where is your outrage at that?

NO hate, but if your going to go by a certain set of standards for one fighter please do it for all fighters.

Since I know I've been the one to say it. I just feel that Floyd should face Shane IF Shane can get passed Cotto in the rematch. Or face Cotto IF Cotto can get passed Magarito in a rematch (Which might not happen). The reason I say this is because I want Floyd to beat the number 1 WW and not have to hear "So and so should have faced so and so because he got beat by so and so" If that makes sense

I still don't feel Shane is standing on top of the moutain...he'd have to avenege his lost to Cotto, get me?

I do not agree that Floyd SHOULD have to fight Shane.
He tryed to fight Shane seven times and Shane Brush him off everytime.
Cotto on the other hand is a fight that would be the fight that Floyd knd of owes to Boxing.Hardcore fans.

The only fight that SHOULD happen is Floyd vs. Pacquiao.
These two are the definition of Pound 4 Pound .
In addition Boxing needs a fight like this.
Every Decade their is 1 fight to decide who is the best of that era.
Floyd vs. Pacquiao Is that fight. f

Fact PBF hand picked fighters. Corley(solid when he faced him), Bruseles(already been KO'd by a nobody), Gatti(?), Judah(most wasted talent ever), Baldomir(Unified champion), old DLH, and much smaller lucky to get past Collazo Hatton. N'Dou, Sosa, Castillo, Chavez, Hernandez, Corrales, Manfredy. While I thought he fought the best at 135 and below he clearly avoided the best after 140, then he regressed to beat up on Hatton.

Fact Mosley fought DLH(prime), Wright, Forrest, Rivera, Taylor, Marquez, Estrada, Collazo, Undefeated Cruz(proved to be overrated), feared Margarito, and Cotto. With the exception of Vargas and Mayorga he had a loaded resume. Talk about fighting the best. Want to add light weight? Holiday, Molina, Leija, Johnson. Mosley has always fought the fighters no one else wants to fight. Yeah the timing was bad for Mosley he made some terrible excuses, but he has a better resume then Mayweather after 135 hands down. Don't care what you guys say Mosley has always fought the best. If the timing for the Mayweather fight was wrong it was wrong. But Mayweather avoided the best for so long it is ridiculous.

I hear what you're saying my man, but why shouldn't Floyd have to EARN a fight with the #1 welterweight instead of the two best guys fighting to determine who's #1 and gets a shot at Floyd? I just don't like that double standard. Its my opinion the best should make as many of the toughest fights possible. Beat the contenders as well as the champions. Floyd may be the best. He's certainly the most talented. And barring my dislike of his personality I want him to be the best guy by beating the best guys, not just saying it.
