Vitali is an All Time Great

I disgaree i think he has potiental to be an ATG of this era, and although he has a great record he has a great record against mostly mediocre fighters. And no matter what anyone say's the two best fighters he fought against Chris Byrd, Lennox Lewis, he lost too.
Vitali Klitschko wasn't dominating Chris Byrd by any means thats a bit of a myth, infact Chris Byrd was coming on strong in the last 2 rounds or so if i remember rightly.
And really and truthfully im not questioning Vitali Klitschko's heart, but he should of continued against Chris Byrd, many other fighters have gone through much worse injuries than that and won. take Danny Williams for example against Mark Potter.Comment

Byrd was considered a great until Wlad handed his ass to him; people here forget that - or plain refuse to remember they probably praised Byrd at some point.
Lewis? Losing because of a technical cut when you're ahead? No shame in that either. Lewis himself said the fight wasn't going to be hard & if potentially the worlds number 1 ATG boxer got it wrong who are we mere mortals to argue?
Lastly and even though it will upset the fanboys: Vitali beats Ali. Too big, too fast too powerful. Vitali is EVERYTHING Foreman is AND MORE! more power, more speed, more technical, smarter and has more stamina. Being smarter & having more stamina would have gotten Foreman a 'W' vs Ali so what in the world can make anyone think Vitali would lose to Ali..........other than fanboys proclaiming: "Because it's Ali!" Ali is just a human fellas, sorry to disappoint.Comment

Chris Byrd was considered a great ? you must be joking no one ever considered Chris Byrd a great. He was rated quite highly a few times in his career, when he upset Vitali Klitschko, David Tua. I don't think many people gave him much credit for beating a shot Evander Holyfield.
But his hype died down when he got destroyed by Ike Ibeabuchi, Wladimir Klitschko x2. Also his 3 gift decision's against Andrew Golota, Fres Oquendo, Jameel McCline, and his aweful fight with DaVarryl Williamson.
People considered him an over achiever at Heavyweight he never belonged in that weightclass. He had a few good performances here and there, but he had more bad performances than good ones at Heavyweight.
Lennox Lewis was past his prime and only had a few weeks to train, Vitali Klitschko gets far too much credit for that fight. I've never seen any other fighter get so much credit for losing.
He fought the worst version of Lennox Lewis and still lost, he was on his way too losing cut or no cut. He was finished after that brutal uppercut in the 6th round, and he was holding on for dear life at the end of 6th round.
the other poster JAB5239 is correct how can you say Vitali Klitschko would beat any ATG ? he never beat any ATG and the two best fighters he fought he lost too.
Having potiental to be an ATG and being an ATG is totally different, Vitali Klitschko is nowhere close to be an ATG and probably never will be. Because its too late in his career.
Lastly Muhammad Ali was past his prime against George Foreman, the fact he was able to beat probably the most feared Heavyweight who ever lived. While being past his prime speaks volumes about him as a fighter.
And the fact that he beat ATG's something Vitali Klitschko never did, while being past his prime is why people pick him to beat Vitali Klitschko. Because he proved himself against the best fighters something Vitali Klitschko never did, you can only speculate with Vitali Klitschko where as you don't have to with Muhammad Ali.Last edited by Burning Desire; 01-31-2009, 06:03 AM.Comment

Trying to call Vitaly an all time great based on what you think he MAY have done is a joke. Could he compete with most heavies in history? Probably. Does that make him great? not a chance. Get the **** out of here with this crap.Last edited by JAB5239; 01-31-2009, 06:08 AM.Comment

It's a shame Vitali got seriously injured and had to retire in 2004. If he had stayed healthy, he would've easily dominated the heavyweight division from 2004-present.
Vitali is one of the best heavyweights of all time
