No drastic excuses there, just that he had an off night. Most cats here didn't give enuf of a **** about Pwill then to defend him.

He also had a pretty long layoff. His win over Margarito was in July and his loss to Quintana was February, a month longer than Margarito's layoff after beating Cotto. The difference is Margarito is a seasoned veteran while Williams was just breaking through. Still not an excuse, and I still can't explain the Quintana loss.

It's twofold I think.

He lost because this was the first time he ran into someone who could exploit him giving away his height so much with his no defense having self, and he was flat as hell. He came into that fight at 168lbs. so that might have had something to do with that.
