Hatton will face Filipino star Pacquiao on May 2 in Las Vegas, 18 months after he lost to Mayweather at the same MGM Grand venue.

A win over Pacquiao would allow Hatton to claim the unofficial title of the world's best pound-for-pound fighter, but Hatton says that would not be enough to prompt him to retire.

"How much further can you go than the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world?" he asked at a press conference here on Thursday.

"If I was to win it I would have achieved my ultimate goal but then the only last thing I would like to do would be to have another crack at Mayweather.

"I keep going on about how I thought I was outdone by the ref. Let's find out if it was the ref or whether he was that good. I'd like to do that to prove to myself.

"If I beat Pacquiao it gives me more power to say to Mayweather, 'You come over here - and I'll pick the ref!'.

"That solitary defeat sticks in my throat. I can go further than Pacquiao and if I do beat him the furthest is to put the record straight with Mayweather.

"I owe it to myself - I don't want to retire without giving it another crack."

Pacquiao confirmed his status as the world's leading fighter with victories over Juan Manuel Marquez, David Diaz and Oscar De La Hoya in 2008.

But Hatton, 30, says he believes he can beat him.

"It will be an absolute honour to fight Pacquiao. I don't think I have seen Manny Pacquiao in a dull fight and if I was not fighting Manny I would be a fan of his.

"I believe I am going to win and I promise you I won't let you down. This time I'm going to do it."

The on-off fight had been in doubt until last week when the two parties finally reached agreement on a 50-50 division of the purse.

Mayweather fans still confident if Floyd fought in the UK, at 140 with Ricky's choice of referee?

because thats what Mayweather got first time around, a home fight, at 147, home ref and bigger ring.

don't need to be a myweather fan to know you are complete fanboy imbecile

because those are the advantages Floyd had.
Yeah cause it's not like he doesn't have advantages like:

speed, footwork, defense , ring generalship, adaptability, ring IQ, ring smarts, head movement....etc.

WHY DID HATTON DUCK FLOYD at 140?

        Answer that one fat boy.

If hatton beats Manny and somehow manage to get PBF out of retirement it would be under PBF's terms or there wont be a fight and hatton would be force to fight in the ring, venue and under the watch of a referee of PBF's choice...ok...maybe Floyd lets him have the referee of his choice...

why does this dude keep sayin, and his press keep reportin' that he could become p4p the best fighter in the world with a win over Pac?........Hatton is a joke just like his boxin' skills.......you get totally outclassed by the BEST in the world.....then you pull off one of the biggest stunts I've ever seen in boxing, you got something like 50,000 of YOUR people to come watch you fight Lazcano .....a feather fisted dude who rocked you!......then you chose Paulie who just so happens to be the biggest American boxing fraud alive......the kid has Dibella behind him and Dibella knows the game thats why he was able to get so far without packin' a RESPECTABLE punch........so the fight between you two were for the FAKEST fighter in the world. title, you won.....you have no skills, and he has NOTHING!!!.......after those 2 stunts you're now preparing to fight the BEST again.......and guess what? you'll lose again .....

I don't know what you guys think, but to me it appears that Mayweather was winning for the outside AND on the inside. Beautiful defense and he stayed in there quite a bit to give much better than he received. Hatton couldn't land anything solid and was definitely being beaten on the inside, so what good would even more infighting have done Hatton?
