How will future history see Roy/Hopkins/Calzaghe?

I'm talking like 30, 40, 50 years down the line.

As uncanny as this may seem, there are actually boxing fans who get their information only from boxrec - hard to believe, I know - and when it comes down to it, in 2060 when we're no longer here or pissing in our pants in an old folk's home, someone's gonna be boxrecing Joe Blow and all they'll see is "W Hopkins" and "W Roy".

    Accomplishments: Hopkins>RJJ>Calzaghe

    Talent: RJJ>Hopkins>Calzaghe

History will not treat Clazaghe all that well, unless maybe Kessler comes out of nowhere to be a world beater.

eh... its been 30 years since Larry Holmes holds a victory over Ali, and we still know the deal with that...

Luckily those same boxrec idiots, aren't the ones who place fighters on the atg list...

I like the way you've given zero thought to the question.

And how does Hopkins' accomplishments eclipse the others?

RJ was #1 p4p for a long time. Bhop is one of the dominant MW champs ever, spent a lotta time right behind RJ on the p4p list, only suffered 1 real loss (as of now), and competed successfully thru his early 40s. Joe C is the dominant man in the history of the SMW division, never lost (as of now), took out young unbeaten threats to his SMW crown near the end of his career, and also beat both Bhop and RJ near the end. All these guys should get some long term shine, but no way Joe C gets the same luv as Bhop and RJ. He spent too much time in Europe, and even tho he beat both, Bhop is disputed and both wins were when those guys were older.

personally, i think the 'legend' of Joe Calzaghe will grow beyond exaggeration....as you stated, some kid 50 years from now and will note the jones and hopkins victories and his opinion becomes set that Joe was god-like

and the same will be said about Hopkins and Roy...their 'legends' will also grow and somewhere, on some message board in 2060, two 50 year old fight fans will bring upon a 2009-ish debate that will seem like martian-speak to the next generation...

those kids will be thinking 'who da fokk was montell griffin or who da fokk was segundo mercado' that these old farts are babbling on about

On Roy: "He was the most talented fighter of his generation."

On Bernard: "Great fighter who was able to fight very effectively at such an old age."

                  On Joe: "Who's that?"

All they would have to do is look at a highlight and thats that.
