If Hatton beats Pac convincingly, he might get number 4.

It depends on a lot of things, where people had him in their P4P lists prior to the fight and how convincingly he beat him etc.

I would not. Beating the man doesn't necessarily make you the man...not in P4P terms, anyway. You don't just get to jump 8 places into the box-seat by beating a guy who came as far as Pac has and maybe just reached his limit, when you've been sat in the same class for almost your entire championship career (save a couple of ultimately unsuccessful attempts to cut it as a welter).

Even if Pacquiao got beatdown by Ricky, his accomplishments --- and those of others in the list --- still loom large over Hatton's.

I wouldn't put him at number 1 anyway.

To give an another example of a similar position.
After Verron Forrest beat Shane Mosley twice in 2002,
he was regarded as the P4P best. Then Ricardo Mayorga
beat Verron twice and Mayorga asked the question
if he was the P4P best. I don't think many people would
            have said yes.

            Just my opinion.

If Hatton beats Pac, Hatton shouldnt become p4p no1 automatically. Because it is quite possible that Pac may not have really have been no1. Instead Hatton should move up a few places in the p4p spot.
Hatton would then have to fight other candidates for no1 spot, by beating JMM for instance and if he did that would be confirmation he is no1 p4p.
              How does that sound?

I'm a fan of Hatton and I think the idea is rediculous, I think it's rediculous putting Hatton over Pac unless it's a total demolision.

I guess he could be arguably p4p, that will not happen though, it better not, PacMan is the truth!

Pac became p4p no1 by beating many highly rated fighters in and around the top p4p area. The barreras, DLHs and JMMS and cant remember the name of the other mexican legends name.

If Hatton beat Pac, again i think Hatton could move up a few places on the p4p list. Top 5 to be honest. Afterall Hatton already beat Kostya who was there or there abouts. Hatton wouldnt be no1 neccesarily because you have to take into the consideration that Pac could possibly have an off night. And even p4p no1's have off days when they dont perform as well as they can.
