Very true but Floyd was also a top5 pfp fighter at the time which still holds much more respect than a WBO champ who was untested.

      I agree.

The display of inside fighting, the bodywork, the slipping while wrestling, the perfection of the plan (early clinching, hiding the right side of the body, that Hopkins' style right hand, -the check left hook I don't think was so special, since Hatton was really open for that), the smoothness in pulling all those dirty tricks (which we rarely if ever saw before from him) definitely bought me to Mayweather being a great. On an all time scale. And those who don't see that... I know they don't know boxing.

You can criticize your opposition all you want (and I agree on some points), what I do... I look at what goes on in the ring.

BTW Those who point out at the Gatti fight to make a case for his greatness also don't know **** IMO.

The adjustment in the Judah fight is another favorite of mine. Not everyone can do what is needed to beat someone who is a lefty, is faster and hits harder than you.

if you ask me thats one of his best wins.....people at the time didnt give him enough credit because they were crying about miguel jotto but hatton is more refined
        i disagree with that statement

let's not forget that everyone went with Hatton to win the fight. Wasn't, Mayweather the underdog. I know everyone at Golden Boy had picked Hatton to win, but Floyd showed them all.

Its not really that he beat Hatton, but how he did it. He wasted as little energy as possible, letting Hatton tire himself out, took him to deep waters and drowned him, kinda like he did to Jesus Chavez, but implemented differently.

the only reason mayweather won was because he was turning his back to hatton, hitting hatton in the back of the head, and he held a lot. The reff let him get away with EVERYTHING! but when mayweather turned his back into the ropes and hatton barely touched the back of his head, he called a point deduction on hatton. that got hatton extremly frustrated and caused mayweather to knock him out. thats what really happened.

                      What are you talking about?

How is keeping an opponent at bay with the jab (when you have a HUGE reach advantage) after you almost knocked him out the previous round your best round?

Seriously, was there any doubt that Mayweather could outjab Hatton, especially when Hatton had little left after the punishment of round 8? His best rounds are the ones when he stood on the inside and wore him out with bodyshots and wrestling tricks. Or if you want round 8 and 10 when Mayweather used combos. But round 9 was just a jab showcasing.

EDIT: And let me add... It is also because of observations like "OMG Floyd is so cool he talks during the fight" that he and his fans get a lot of ****. Of course it is a 'special' thing, but in the show of skills he got going in that fight it is not very relevant, and pointing THAT out seems kind of shallow to me
