Brisk ticket sales are guaranteed Friday when seats become available for the junior-lightweight fight between Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines and England's Ricky Hatton on May 2 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Promoters just announced that tickets priced at $150, $300, $500, $750 and $1,000 will go on sale at 10 a.m. Pacific time through Las Vegas Ticketmaster locations at (702) 474-4000, at www.mgmgrand.com and www.ticketmaster.com. Select Smith's Food and Drug Centers and Ritmo Latino locations in Las Vegas also will offer tickets.

No problem. I didn't realize ticketmaster.com had not been mentioned as an option even though it always is.

I called both Ticketmaster and the MGM Grand and both said the fight is not in their system. They also said if they were to be selling tickets on Friday, January 30th, they'd already be in it(the system).

This Sucks! Only those who live in Vegas or are ridiculously rich will be able to see this one. Damn capitalism...Jerks! I was really looking forward to being there for this one too. Damn!

I've stated numerous times before that you shouldn't expect to buy anything cheaper than $750 seats on Ticketmaster, if you can get them in time.


The cheaper seats will all be sold to brokers like StubHub and Razorgator, where they will be sold at triple and quadruple face value.


If you aren't willing to spend $750 per seat for tickets, but want to go...I would suggest waiting until the last minute, and then checking in with the ticket brokers.

If the economy is anything like it is now, or during The Dream Match, no one will pay these ridiculous prices for tickets and the brokers will end up liquidating tickets for very reasonable, sometimes even below face value prices.

Can you explain what happens with stubhub, etc. I was under the impression that these were essentially marketplaces for individual sellers. Also, do you know if tickets were liquidated for DLH-Pacman? Seems kind of hard to believe for an event like that but perhaps with the economy...

P4P is hypothetical.. it has NOTHING to do with how many weight classes you have fought in.

This is where the ticket brokers come in. They will sell these tickets, which are usually the lower priced tickets (these are much more profitable for brokers) at prices way above face value to make their profit.

For example, $150 seats for the Dream Match were going for as high as $650 per ticket on broker websites.

To answer your question, yes many tickets were liquidated for the Dream Match. In fact, if you looked at many of these broker websites even on the Friday before the fight, many of the tickets were dropped down to face value.

Hatton won't be P4P number 1 if he beats Pacquiao, but if he beat JMM after he would be. P4P isn't how many weight divisions you fight at, it's based on how boxers would match up if they were all the same weight.
