I Think Margarito Took a Dive!

I just spoke to my sister's boyfriend who works for the Justice Department in California. He said that they are in the preliminary stages of forming a commitee to investigate the Margarito v. Mosley fight. Apparently, an overwhelming amount of the pre-fight action was put on Mosley. He said that these 'smart money' wagers are common, although two factors have piqued the Justice Department's interest.

First, the amount of the wagers placed on Mosley was in great dispaity to the number of them. He said when alot of small wagers are made immediately prior to the fight they can be more easily dismissed as 'smart money' than a handful of very large ones. On Saturday, six separate Las Vegas casinos took wagers on Mosley at approximately 7:26 PST (right before the fight) totaling more than two million dollars.

Second, the FBI in Southern California has been investigating for some time the Arellano Drug Cartel's dealings with a number of athletic events, including boxing. The Arellano family has apparently kidnapped and held at ransom the wife or children of certain fighters in an effort to get that fighter to fix the fight. A former member of Margarito's management named Roberto Ramos is currently under investigation for being associated with the Arellano cartel.

Is it possible that Margarito threw the fight? I'm sure we'll being hearing more about this.

No. I do not believe it for a second. If you watch the fight you can see clearly that Margarito is trying to win, but is simply losing to the better man.

Every time I bring up this topic on this forum, naive people bash me because they think this type of **** doesn't really exist. I thought Margarito looked really su****ious in the fight, just standing in front of mosley and eating shots. Just like Pavlik did when he just stood in front of Hopkins. Please don't come up with some "hopkins and mosley showed veteran savvy and confused their opponents" garbage. You can convince your drunk uncle's with that, but not me. Its one thing to loose a slugfest, its another to stand in front of Mosley and Hopkins, hands by your side and get clobbered.

you know what, i dont even know anymore. boxing is far from the cleanest sport there is and with all this narco bs thats going down in mexico, i wouldnt be surprised if something like this is true. not saying its true though, margarito got his ass kicked plain and simple.
