Hatton vs Pacquiao: Dont Be Suprised If Hatton Wins

Why are people talking like this fight will be a forgone conclusion? I got alot of respect for Manny and have no problem in him being the favorite, his speed, power and performance at the higher weights rightly means he is getting the respect he deserves in the pre fight build up. But people are concentrating too much on Hatton's flaws and not looking at the issues with Pacquaio.

    1) Pacquiao is not Floyd Mayweather Jr, I dont think Ricky Hatton will ever fight against anyone with that level of skill ever again. Simply referring to the mayweather fight as proof a quick fighter will destroy hatton doesnt wash. Mayweather's timing was on another level to anyone else and he was alot more effective on the inside then hatton expected. When ricky was able to close distance on Floyd and get inside, he met a series of elbows, forearms and a fighter who would shoulder roll to create space and counter on the inside. I highly doubt pacquaio possess the threat to hatton on the inside that floyd did.

    2) If Hatton gets Inside Pacquaio how will Manny cope? Im expecting moments in the fight where Hatton is going to close distance on Pacquaio, how will he cope as hatton comes in with the smothering, bodyshots, rough-house tactics, is he slick enough to not get hit and manovure his way out of there unscathed?

    3) What happens If Ricky moves away from the left hand? To me Pac isnt as quick to fire the shots if a guy isnt right in the line of the left hand lead. Marquez used this to his advantage by moving away from the left hand, effectivley shutting down pac's output, then planting jabs and right hands on him. If ricky moves away from the left, is pacquiao going to have a plan B this time?

I think Ricky is being underestimated due to fact that people neglect the damage he could do to pacquiao once inside, ricky isnt going to be the stationary target oscar de la hoya was, he is actually quite quick in cutting down distance and coming in with lead hooks. I agree that Pacquiao is most likely the favorite if the fight is fought on the outside, but if Hatton backs him up, he could win the fight.

This fight is winnable by Hatton.. If he keeps his cool.. and outsmarts PAC.. and Hatton's ring smarts are vastly underrated on these boards..

PAC is not loaded with ring smarts.. But his Trainer is.. I think this fight will be much more cerebral than people are imagining

but while pac isnt mayweather, neither ricky is jmm too. hatton has a chance, but manny will close the show much more one-sided than floyd did.

Good post!. I wouldn't be suprised if either man won this fight. I'll be rooting for hatton so people underestimating him is fine by me.

Um, how do you get much more one-sided than rounds 8,9 and 10 in Mayweather-Hatton?

Ricky's corner threw in the towel as the ref waved it off with Ricky flat on his back. It's not like FMJ was pecking away.
