Did Mayweather really dominate all the divisions he was champion in?

There's only so much you can do in a division before it becomes stale, especially for someone like Mayweather who was in a hurry to move. That said, I think his star power helped just as much as his skill for him to be considered the best of the best. That's not necessarily a bad thing, I mean boxing is entertainment after all.
I'd say he's proven to an extent, but not rock solid proven. He could have done more for his legacy and fans. Stop being retired damn you!Comment

Let's start at 130......
He beat Genaro Hernandez for his 130 belt in 1998. He was 130 champion from 1998-2002.
In those 4 years or so he only fought 2 top ranked super featherweights.
Genaro when he beat him for the title and Diego Corrales who was ranked #2 behind him and in some years ranked #1 above him.
For a couple of years there Joel Casamayor and Acelino Freitas was ranked right there behind Floyd Mayweather and obviously fights with those 2 were never made.
Would you consider Floyd's run at 130 dominant or considered it cleaning out the division?
Don't forget Floyd wasn't what he became later. He wasn't a draw at all and represented a major, major risk. Not too many people were willing to get in the ring with him...then.Comment

mayweather retired a brilliant boxer, and the p4p best for sure, but he left in his prime, with too many questions unanswered.
williams, marg, cotto, mosley, pacquiao
those are all super fights mayweather could extend his legacy with.Comment

i'm not trolling , dumbass.
i'm asking a question.
people only seem to talk about his 147 run nowadays.
i don't hate on floyd too much on his 147 run.
you can't blame him for fighting baldomir. the schmuck was lineal champion for god's sake.
you certainly can't blame him for fighting hatton at 147 and oscar at 154 for tens of millions of dollars. that's just ignorant to hate on a guy for taking the big money. it'd be like throwing away a winning lotto ticket.
if you don't like me asking this get out. or if you disagree , convince me.Comment

That those fights weren't made doesn't speak ill on Floyd. Those guys became clear contenders later in his reign. And when Casamayor and Freitas did meet, Floyd was ringside, practically screaming at them for a fight.

i know they moved up to #2 and 3 after diego loss and went away.
do you know the story of the talks between freitas and casa against floyd?
i don't remember the details on possible fights with them.Comment

floyd's not really a natural 147 guy.
cotto and floyd was both with top rank right? i don't think arum wanted to put them up against each other 'til it was for a huge payday.
as far as shane , i think he was still fighting at 154 at the time and shane turned down a floyd offer because of tooth problems or something and/or he needed to get his confidence up and didn't want to take a tough fight right away after his recent losses.Comment
