the problem here is in comparison, much like Lampley said; In the cotto fight, the same punches that were being thrown in the mosley fight were being A LOT more affective and punishing. His devastating power was pretty much gone that night. Something that Richardson said that was interesting was that the pads in the gloves tend to soften after a couple of hundred punches and what was done in the wrapping would have devastating effect in the later rounds.

Now in the cotto fight he pretty much destroyed cotto after the 7th round and his head was pummeled. IS ALL TOO SHADY IF U ASK ME. As far as I'm concerned he cheated in the cotto fight.

Chavez is a great example...I think it's more of boxers with heavy hands that can give you a sustained beating throughout a fight...

I guess you can call it slow power...Chavez had it....Margs had it...

Even Cotto to some extent had that thudding mauling power...even though he's not very slow...

i just think it's a heavy handed puncher thing...

why some boxers have thudding break you down power...and some have that 1 hit knockout shot...is a mystery to me...I would say it would be speed or maybe it's the way some boxers throw there shots as opposed to others...but Cotto is kind of the exception to that rule...so i can't call it...good post though.
