Do you think that people say that Sugar Ray Robinson is the greatest ONLY because that's something they've been spoonfed and not because its true?

I think we all know what your own answer to the question you posed...ZERO.

      Take a look at this:
      http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php...9625&cat=boxer
then tell me if you think the phrase spoon fed belongs in any discussion of Sugar Ray Robinson.

Because you implied that calling Sugar Ray Robinson the greatest of all time was a knee jerk reaction given by uniformed and/or ignorant posters.

I'm not gonna say the older version Robinson I've seen is the best I've ever seen, but I've seen a little past his prime and I can say that is pretty close. I can just imagine him in his full prime. Goddamn.

Even just a look at his resume could convince someone. I was shown his resume about 6 or 7 years ago before I'd seen anything other than tape of two of his fights with LaMotta and I was already convinced.

Harry Greb is another guy. I've never seen him fight and I don't know how much tape is available of him, but just a look at his resume convinced me that he'll always be in the top 5 of all-time.

he didn't really have proper form and technique, he threw his hooks from his waist a lot of the time and his elbows weren't aligned. For his day though, he was way ahead of his time, with greater hand speed and power than anyone in his weight division.

He achieved a lot and definitely ranks up there having almost beat a light heavyweight. I can think of a few fighters that would beat him though, even at welterweight. SRL being one, Hearns and Hagler would bust him up at middleweight (Hagler was 3 times the fighter Lamotta was). All in all though, ATG WW with very good p4p status.
