no 1 would be favored over floyd at this point in his career

Guys like Margarito and Mosley were calling him out in similar fashion since 2004, but Hatton calls him out and in the matter of weeks the fight is made?

Don't get it twisted, wins over Oscar, Corrales, Hatton, etc are great...nobody in their right mind should deny that. I just think a lot of his fans become naive and make it seem as if Floyd has peaked, because if that is REALLY the case, trust me when I tell you Floyd won't be heralded as high in the years to come as his fans make it seem.

Floyd is still very young with a lot left to give. I just think it's time now to put his skills up against any of the top fighters right now regardless of if everyone thinks he'd win, because as recent history has shown us...ANYTHING is possible.
WELL DOCUMENTED THAT MOSLEY WAS OFFERED A FIGHT AFTER THE VARGAS FIGHT BEFORE THE OSCAR FIGHT...SHANE SAID HE HAD A TOOTHACHE. FLOYD WAS FAVORED OVER HATTON, BUT MANY EXPERTS AND PUGILIST STATED THAT HATTON HAD THE STYLE TO BEAT FLOYD. THEY WERE WRONG AND NOW HATTON IS NOTHING BUT AN OK WIN.

i can respect this thread some, but you left out all of the fighters who ducked him like oscar, mosley, freitez, cotto and hatton at 140. i mean, floyd's skillset is the best i've seen ever, period. overall skillset, it's really not close with the fighters of today. there has never been a more technically gifted fighter than floyd mayweather jr.

floyd mayweather jnr in my book is special fighter of this era, however he can not complete his legacy by retireing at this point... there are to many unanswered questions in the welterweight division... there are to many questions over, why floyd never took a fight with margarito, cotto, paul williams and shane mosley. to really secure his legacy as the best pound for pound ever, he in my opinion has to fight and win (convincingly), at least 3 of the above... the winner of a rematach against cotto vs margarito, paul williams and mosley..

if floyd were to take these sort of fights and win, he would go down as maybe the best figher of all time, but for that title you need to but your neck on the line and take some big risky fights..... retiring to become a wwf star for a week and make a **** track with ludicrous, dont wash with me.... MONEY MONEY MONEY, TRUE FIGHT FANS WANNA SEE SOME PROPER FIGHTS, F**K THE MONEY

"The one fight where he seemed to be at a disadvantage was against Diego “Chico” Corales (R.I.P.); in dissecting Corales, Floyd was masterful and it was one of the best performances of his career, but Corales was only exposed that night. As it turns out he wasn't actually a world beater but a very determined yet fragile fighter."

Thats a back handed comment for real. There are people in every sport who will never get the credit they truly deserve regardless of what they do and I feel PBF is one of those people.

I can also admit that I wanted him to fight Mosley, Cotto, Margarito, and recently Pacman not because I really think they would be good close fights but because its quite possible it would actually some people the f#ck up. Truthfully back when Mosley was 135 that would have been PBF's closest fight. Cotto, Margarito and Pacman don't stand a chance IMO.
Corrales was exposed? seriously? what the **** was this moron watching afterward that fight? mma? Because I remember Corrales fighting Castillo, Freitas and Casamayor and giving them everything and more.
Corrales was shot to pieces after the first fight with Castillo, because of that fight. What happened from 2001 to 2005 seems nothing like an exposed fighter to me.

some of you are acting like that the original poster is the one who wrote this... he didn't. that's why he's not making any arguments..

sheesh. some of you are too eager to defend floyd. you don't even think things through.
